Cincy09 good job with the game thread. It's good that EE is starting tonight.

not only starting, but hitting cleanup. at what point do we see him in the lineup every day?

Gandalf the Red
08-02-2006, 06:18 PM
I know we've been over this, but seeing the .240 next to Junior's name makes me sad. And I really don't mean that in a bashing kinda way. I grew up watching The Kid rake on Sports Center highlights each night.

Okay. Enough touchy-feely stuff. I now return you to our standard biting acerbic commentary.

There is no telling with the way Narron does his lineups.

I hope Eddie has the game of his life tonight and plant himself into the starting line-up forever...

RedsManRick
08-02-2006, 06:22 PM
How can you justify sitting a guy 5 nights a week and then hitting him clean-up when he does play... Let's hope he goes 5-5 with 5 homers and 27 assists so Narron has no excuse.

Someone must have hired Miracle Max to give Narron a magic pill.
We should make sure that Jerry doesn't go swimming for at least a good hour.

Let's jump in on the Penny-bashing....and I hope Elizardo pitches like his last night out.

08-02-2006, 06:29 PM
I just don't see how Aurilia bats cleanup when he plays and EE bats cleanup when he plays. How in the world are both of these guys batting cleanup when they play and not playing at all the other days? It's beyond ridiculous. If they're good enough to bat cleanup they should be out there everyday, somewhere.

We've been losing to the Brewers all season... So during that last few months it "lasted" for you the Reds won every game they should have won? We all feel as frustrated as you do, but you're being completely irrational by saying the season is over because the Reds are struggling right now (still in first place of the wildcard, I might add). Get out of here if you're done with the Reds; just don't come back when they right the ship.

CincyReds2003
08-02-2006, 08:06 PM
Season over, it lasted a few months at least.

This team was projected to finish last...We still have an opportunity to make the playoffs, and even if we don't, I'll still accept a .500 season. The starting rotation except for Harang is horrendous, and it's going to take an offseason to improve the staff. When Cast took over, this organization was completely gutted thanks to the previous ownership/management, so it's going to take a while to build. Rome wasn't built in a day. A .500 season will considered a success, compared to the last 6 seasons. I get aggravated at Narron, and this pitching staff as well, but it's going to take a while. Hell, it took Mike Brown 13 years to realize that he couldn't make personnel decisions. Then he finally brought someone in, and they wound up in the playoffs.

I don't think it will change Narron's mind. Because EE has never had a problem making the tough plays, he's struggled with the routine plays. So if you go by Narron's logic he hasn't done anything out of the ordinary tonight. But I would like to see EE in there more too.

The skid hits 4 games. Thank God the Cardinals are on the verge of hitting 6 games on theirs. Go get 'em tomorrow.

I got the chance to go to the game today with some friends..Man when Griffey almost got that home run in the 8th we were about to go crazy...I thought it was gone when it left the bat..I'm glad the cardinals are losing though :D
