Freel RF
Clayton SS
Griffey CF
Aurilia 1B
Encarnacion 3B
Phillips 2B
Denorfia LF
LaRue C
Harang P

Why is Clayton batting 2nd?

I smell another shut out. There is holes at 2,3,4 (if a righty comes in), 7 hasn't shown he can hit yet, and 8.

At least it appears Edwin could have his starting job back. Nah that is wishful thinking.

No Ross, who has killed LHP this season. An endangered species sighting of the rarely seen Denorfia as well.

Maybe Narron reads the game threads. The way people were losing it about his 2 bad games you would think he could never hit again.

After those 2 bad games he was probably traded to the Mets for Jose Lima.

What, people over reacting to a bad game or two from a player?!!? I would never have guessed it.

I sometimes think this bunch would have traded Frank Robinson or Johnny Bench for a minor leaguer after a hitless 3 day period.

This lineup makes me scratch my head a bit, but pretty much everybody loved last nights and thought it was the start to something.

It got no hit through 6 and then shut out.

Whether this one does better or not, we'll find out in a few hours.

If he had grounded out he'd be in there

Ground out vs. strike out = no difference.

Hitting the ball vs. missing the ball = big difference.

Dunn is not hitting the ball. He can use a night off. Give Deno a shot against the lefty.

Why is Ross sitting? I hope there is good reason because his bat should be in the lineup.

Johnny Bench in 1976 stunk, would he be beat up by RZ?

You bet.

I honestly don't have a problem with giving Dunn a night off and then give Jr the day off tomorrow. In this weather and heat in a month with only one off day between now and the 31st players will need some rest.

Not playing Ross is really dumb.

What's really humerous (to me that is) is that Jerry Narron has probably forgotten more about the game in the last 2 months then some folks around here claim to know about the game.

It doesn't mean he's a perfect manager, nor even a good manager by any means, but because he doesn't subscribe to every whim of every fan also doesn't make him an idiot.

Enos Cabell getting playing time in 1982 and 1983 is proof that even the greatest have odd ways of looking at the game.

LaRue is probably playing tonight for the following reasons:

1. He generally catches Harang
2. Ross is going tommorow afternoon--day games after night games are tough on catchers.
3. See 2 above; and since Ross is recently off the dl they don't want to risk him going back on by overexertion.
4. LaRue is still being packaged (at least one would hope) so he needs some playing time.

Dunn simply needs a night off. I'd be willing to guess Jr. will sit one of the games this weekend.

I'm feeling a breakout from the offense tonight. My prediction 9-2 Reds.

Throw any 30 members of Redszone into each of MLB's field managerial positions and one of them will emerge with a World Championship trophy.

WHY allow LaRue be another automatic out???? AND Ross has had way to many days off.. he would be fine tonight and tomorrow..

this is why Narron will not get this team to the postseason if he keeps doing this.. AND why in the world is Royce batting 2nd???? PHILLIPS would be in that spot before Royce.. makes me wonder if these dumb decisions are affecting the players...

Some people on here really over estimate their abilities simply because they can look up stats.... and important part of the game obviously; but not the only part of the game. Nor does it translate into knowing how to run or manage a professional baseball team.

Is that a shot at RZ members or a pro-Jerry comment? B/c Jerry, no matter how you look at it, has been pulling off some questionable moves lately w/o any sort of success in the past 2 weeks.

1) How long is he going to wait to drop Jr in the order, if ever? And on a related topic, how long is he going to be in CF?
2) How long is he going to keep the black hole at SS w/o at least giving BP a shot there?
3) How long does RA continue to hit cleanup against RHPs?

You are right, stats aren't everything. But look at some of the numbers related to those guys from this season and try to form any sort of argument in their favor.

Dunn. EE, if JN would play him. RA vs LHPs. All performing better than Jr. It's 2006, not 1996. He has been in a horrific 2 month slump.

If anyone can get those, I would appreciate it since I'm not about to total them up. But I will take an educated guess and say they aren't very good.

True, but why does someone with a sub-.700 OPS vs RHPs bat cleanup vs. RHPs?

He's had a job that has paid $1M or more every year since the mid 90's. He's probably collected $30M over the last decade simply by tricking stupid owners and idiotic GMs from St Louis to Texas to Chicago to Arizona... He's a magician.

Let me start out saying this: Do NOT blame that game on the defense, OK? I don't care who you play, whether it's a high school team, a junior college team, a college team, much less an NFL team, when you turn the ball over five times . . . you ain't gonna beat anybody. That was a disgraceful performance. ... We gave it away. We gave them the frigging game. In my opinion, that sucked.

You can't turn it over five times. Holy crap. I don't know who the hell we think we are when we do something like that ... We've thrown [five] interceptions returned for touchdowns. Royce Clayton homered and Griffey walked. All in the same inning! What's next? A Dunn bunt single?!?

No way the Reds lose this game.
