They were talkin about Bronson Arroyo going back to the cornrows he had with Boston. I'm for anything to change his luck lately, although the rows are very ugly on him.

Bronson needs to cut the hair... he has a helmetty head. That or he needs some crew in it.

One thing good about ol' Marge....she kept the players clean cut!

Oh, Lord! It's 1970 and the hippies are storming the streets... The facial hair ban was baloney and anachronistic and an insult to every fan who sports such. What a load of hooey.

I'm talking about the 80's and 90's. It was nice seeing people who WEREN"T hippies or look like chip town trash.

To me, it takes away the whole aspect of the game having long hair like a woman. ;)

Marge was just keeping the tradition started by Bob Howsam. I didn't like the rule then, and I don't like it now. I'm glad that antiquated line of thinking is gone. And, yes, full disclosure, I have a goatee.

What aspect of the game? That people might get confused and forget that it's men out there playing ball?

Oh god...we're going to have an internet fist-fight over long hair/facial hair vs. clean cut aren't we?

Run away! Run away!

That's acceptable.

These are BASEBALL players we are talking about here. Not rock stars (even though Bronson sometimes believes he is).

I am not saying facial hair is a bad thing. I myself have a goatee. I was brought up through playing baseball with the understanding that when it's hot outside (which it usually is during the summer. Sometimes exceeding 100+ degrees.) to cut your hair short. Obviously not everyone has that understanding, so different opinions may conflict.

To me, it looks better on an organizational side not having to see someone pitch with hair dangling in their eyes and beards hanging to their knees (ala ZZ Top). ;)

You would've REALLY hated the early '70s A's teams. They tripped over their long hair all the way to three straight World Series wins.

Didn't the Cornrows help him turn things around in Boston?

Sure, it's only hair, but you know how these guys can be....

Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Reds need Bronson to win, Bronson believes he needs the cornrows to win, therefore, the Reds need Bronson to wear the cornrows.

This is a free country... every person has the right to choose how he/she wears his hair and whether or not he prefers to sport facial hair. As long as said hair is clean and the hair (head, face or otherwise) doesn't interfere with the job or become a safety factor, what the .... difference does it make?

Chainer

Then it would go along the same lines as saying that everyone has a right to say that they DON'T like it when they wear their hair like that. Freedom of speech, correct? :D

Besides, these guys are supposidely 'professionals.' They make millions upon millions a year and WE pay their salaries. I don't know about you, but as a professional myself, I am REQUIRED to conduct to dress code. Which means, no hair hanging in my eyes and to remain properly groomed. Now, facial hair isn't outlawed, although they want you to maintain it at a reasonable level.

Oh well. Guess you can't be satisfied with everything. :p:

This is just Bronsons way of doing the NHL playoff beard thingy. If it makes him more confident, so be it.:D
