Great lineup. It seems that despite his comments before the series JN realizes that importance of these games and is putting the best team on the field.

Let's get a win for Bronson today: :rockband:

Will the cornrows look work for Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo?

"I did it in '04 just trying to get something mixed up," Arroyo said Tuesday. "I didn't lose for a long, long time and I left them all the way through the World Series."

In the nine games since his June 19 win, Arroyo is 0-4 with a 5.31 ERA. He had a 9-3 record and 2.47 ERA in the 15 starts before that.

I would still flip Jr. and Dunn, but overall, I cannot complain about the lineup. Kudos to JN for not giving us a getaway special and trying to win this series!

That is a nice lineup. The only better lineup I could see would be RA at 2nd/B-Phil at SS. But hey, no ones perfect!

Reyes' stats since the all star break:stats (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/stats/mlb_individual_player_splits.jsp?playerID=435039&statType=2&splitSet=1&c_id=mlb&sitSplit1=aas)

He has really gone downhill of late. I especially like the WHIP of 1.73, Hits/9 of 11.39, and ERA of 5.91. He also seems to do significantly worse on the road and has lost both of his starts outside St.Louis.

They have Taguchi, Miles and Bennet. Since when is a struggling Edmonds (one swing) and Spiezio of all people deadly. I would take pitching to Spiezio anyday compared to Rolen.

Better Spiezio than Rolen, last night's HR notwithstanding. Edmonds is the scary one for me. Seems like he hits a homer every other inning against the Reds.

Spiezo is nicer to see than Rolen, I agree, but he's decent against righties, as is Edmonds who usually hits us well.

But you're right, Bronson should get #10 right here. :beerme:

I'm glad to be here. Don't work until later and can finally watch a game in this series. Danny Serafini is here. I'm ready to go. Easy BP. Tough throw. We are okay.

Danny Serafini
08-10-2006, 12:42 PM
Here's an odd one. Pujols lined straight to Phillips, who made the catch. Unfortunately his throw to first hit the runner, who gets sent to second. Score that an E-4.

I dont think one run will consitute an ongoing slide. You may wanna actually give him a chance and see what happens before you tag him with todays loss.

I was going to post the same thing, since the error allowed the runner to advance, and a single would not have scored the runner from second. I thought it should be unearned.

Probably because the error put him on 2nd, and without error bases would have theoritically been left loaded. It started earned, but became unearned by no further damage, I think.

They've been doing a lot of no hitting off rookie and bad pitchers. Did we already forget our great performance off the batting tee named Weaver on Monday?

I know it's early, but I'd like us to start hot for once, and put it away early (namely before I have to get ready for work! LOL)

Danny Serafini
08-10-2006, 12:56 PM

Mets have taken a 3-2 lead on the Padres in the 2nd. Padres lead the West right now, but they've slumped and now have a worse record than the Reds, so that could factor in the Wild Card race if the Dodgers stay hot.

Comeback games are fun to watch (when we're not down 12+ runs like Monday), but it is nice to know you have a commanding lead and are shutting down another team's offense.

I said it Bronson's last start, and I'll say it again. They're now letting him work the count, because he'll do it anyway. get ahead, then pitch around until he has to throw a strike. So not only are they waiting for the strike to hit, they're also forcing him to throw a ton of pitches instead of nubbing the 2nd or 3rd on like they had early on.
