We've seen that story before with Dunn earlier in the year he would put Freel in LF in the 8th and the game would go long cosing Dunner another AB. I have no problem with improving defense. But, take Clayton out, not EE. If anything EE has proven to be a very improving defensive 3rd Baseman with excellent range. Thats how you get better defensively. Now, you are stuck with your RF playing 3rd, a no range SS, and an old backup playing RF.

Our offense has gone from being explosive and dynamic in the beginning of the season to painfully average at present.

3-1 lead, double switch out for EE into the "8th spot" Not my fav move taking EE out but understandable. Can't play to assume blowing a 3-1 lead
The 9th turned into a go for broke sequence as a result of the B8th debacle.

My theory is that he has a naturally cheerful voice, well-modulated broadcaster tones, and when he tries to call a heartbreaking play, the little catch in his vowels (It's going to be gah-ne... He gah-t it...) sounds even peppier. Coming from Marty, the same thing cuts like a knife.
I can't defend his Cardinal lust, though.
