Considering the kind of stuff kids see on TV these days, you really think "turd" is going warp their minds? Geez...relax.

Relax yourself. It wasn't necessary.

I am 33. I have never seen a IW with an unopen base.

I don't know that I have either. I guess its the right move. The bad thing is that you put the winning run in Scoring position. But it is a pitcher batting. But, I've seen the Reds get burned by pitchers batting this year. Right move for sure, but who knows the outcome.

From Baseball Almanac:

Barry Bonds, May 28, 1998 - The Diamondbacks led the Giants, 8-6 in the bottom of the ninth, with two out, the bases loaded, and Barry Bonds up. Arizona manager Buck Showalter ordered Gregg Olson to issue the IBB, putting the tying run on third and the winning run on second. Brent Mayne then lined out to end the game.

Potential huge momentum shifting game now for the Reds, either way. The pitching staff is now almost totally wasted, with Harang pitching and Arroyo warming.
A win and those arms feel fresh tomorrow.
A loss might throw them for a big time loop.

But these are the Reds. Night is day, day is night, and so on.

Hollandsworth will be good--a few weeks with Chambliss and he'll be just fine. That's the thing--the Reds culture improves hitters. Pitchers, eh, that's another matter.

This isn't some 24 yr old AAA OF. He's an old dog. Not gettin' any better.

No idea. WK has been like a maniac over the past month, making as many deals as possible. With all the restructuring of the roster, this team is 14-12 since the trade from hell. Not really the outcome you want when you add this many players:

Bray
Clayton
Shoulder Guy
Guardado
Lohse
Franklin
Hollandsworth
Cormier
