After having inserted Aurilia at SS in the 9th inning last night, I thought perhaps we'd see Jerry start Rich there tonight.

RA at SS might be a little loss in defense, but could be a huge gain in offense.

Dunn should bat 3rd with Griffey 5th. I have no problem with Hatte 2nd and Edwin 4th.

Javy has been on fire lately.

I'd like to see a Dunn-EdE-Jr 3-4-5. EdE's RBI chances could be limited by Jr.

Tony Cloninger
08-12-2006, 05:52 PM
I agree with switching Dunn and Griffey.......should be done by now.

Having said that......Dunn is a good enough hitter not to need protection.
Cannot keep worrying about who he has behind him......he is a big boy.
He can handle it.

So, sticking a bad hitter like Valentin behind Dunn will have no affect on how the opposing team pitches to Dunn? Sorry, I don't buy that.

Tony Cloninger
08-12-2006, 06:26 PM
If the scouting reports on Griffey are examined by Phillie pitchers....than i think they might fear Valentin more than Griffey at this point.

If i were a pitcher i would pitch around Dunn to get to Griffey.

He should be in front of EE......i agree there....I am just not going to
use batting Valentin behind Dunn as the reason Dunn will not hit.

I feel bad for him, too and hope he does well, but all the cards are stacked against him. He's been really hittable lately and then the extra work last night and the result will mess with his mind and his pitching. Just a no-win situation for EZ.

You could have gone all day and not said that...

If can give us 6 with 3 runs or less I'd be more than happy. OTOH, I see him going about three and behind when he leaves. More labor for the bullpen and another difficult game.

The Phillies have another pitcher the Reds haven't seen, so Cy Young returns once again.

Last night was a killer.

The reason why Narron keeps running Clayton out there is beyond reason...but hey putting the winning run on third with no outs is a little mind numbing as well. Lets just say Narron does not have to worry about a call from MENSA anytime soon.

I want to slap the people in the pre-production meeting tonight. I can't believe the storyline was that EZ needed to eat innings.

After his debacle last night - and with an idiotic way to run a bullpen by his manager - I can't believe FSN thought the storyline was EZ needing a long outing. Do some homework for crying out loud.

Michalak's got an interesting delivery and motion. Could keep the Phillies at bay for a while.

I feel bad for this offense. And I don't mean just this year, but three years running. They work hard, they improve, and they are consistently kicked between the garden rails by the pitching staffs these GMs give them. This team hasn't identified good pitching with any kind of consistency for 20 years, admittedly, but these past several years have been crimes against humanity.
