offensively, this is the best the lineup we have. Hopefully we can keep the bats going today

EKURed

Now this is a lineup I could definitely live with...

Tom Servo
08-13-2006, 12:27 PM
Our best 8 offensively, and the order makes perfect sense in theory. In actuality though, Dunn and Hatt should be flipped because Dunn just hits better in the 2 hole with Griff behind him.

Redlegs23
08-13-2006, 12:30 PM
Instead of flipping Dunn and Hat I'd flip Dunn and Griffey. Besides that, I really like this lineup.

Dunner44
08-13-2006, 12:31 PM
Griffey needs an off day, and soon, but i guess jerry couldn't live with giving him 2 days off with tomorrow being an off day.

Get down! RICH AT SS!!!

Dunner44
08-13-2006, 12:39 PM
rich at SS doesn't hurt that much because uncle milty is pitching. His GO/FO ratio in his last 4 or 5 starts has been close to .25. That means 4 flyouts for every ground out he induces. So RA's horrible range doesn't hurt that much, and it gets his bat in the lineup.

Exactly. Today's as good a day as any to try RA at SS.

I thought for sure that Jr. would get the day off today.

Dunner44
08-13-2006, 12:46 PM
Here are the actual stats on milton.

In his 2 august starts, his GO/FO ratio is .35 (on the season it's .53). March and april he was a whole lot closer to 1 (.83) so that pushes his season average up a little bit. However, everyone knew milty was a fly ball pitcher, so no big deal as long as he limits the homers and BBs.

His WHIP in July/August has been 1.23, a very good number.

Lefties are only hitting .202 against milton, whereas righties are hitting .267. If I was the Phils manager, I'd stack the lineup with righties. Here's hoping he doesn't.

Great offensive lineup. Like most I would like to see griff and Dunn switched, but i'd also like to switch Rich and BP around defensively. The kids got range lets see what he can do there.

Why does an off day have to come on a day the Reds are playing?

Tommorow is an off day and tommorow is soon. Check.

I'll take a slumping Griffey over Todd Hollandsworth, any day.

Depends on the type of player that they are......guys like Griffey and Howard are not going to change their swing....

Guys that like to be pests and foul off pitches (Eckstein comes to mind) change their swings dramatically to stay alive in an at bat.......

And you wouldn't expect guys like dunn and howard to change their swing in almost any situation because they are there to hit the long ball. But I love EE's aproach. You need a good variety in types of hitters and this team definitly has that. If only we could get consistant pitching we'd be solid

Aurilia makes the routine plays. I say, if they don't want to move Phillips, the Reds make the infield today what we will see for most of the season. I like what it does for our offense and the defense has been just fine so far.
