In case anyone's interested, a Reds/Cards segment is coming up in a few mintues on ESPN's Around the Horn.

The question posed for the segment was "who needs the series more?"

Bob Ryan said that he thought it was more important for the Reds so they could get their fans to buy into the team. He is right that the fan base isn't sold on them, and probably rightfully so.

If the Reds come back from St Louis 1.5 games up or a half game out, will the fans start coming to the games? It is August and the Reds are in the middle of a pennant race. My guess is that attendance will go way up if the Reds come back to town in first.

They didn't really make any predictions, it was more a discussion of which team the series means more to. Mariotti at the end of the segment said the Reds are a better team because they have 30 come from behind wins and lead the league in homeruns.
