Man, I hate seeing Clayton in the lineup, particularly at #2. Looks to me like Aurillia would be a better choice against Pettite.

I'm okay with that lineup. I'd rather not have Clayton in the two-hole, but other than that, it's decent.

Need Arroyo to buck up and get his second in a row.

Clayton owns lefties.

This is what the lineup will normally look against LHP.

vs RHP it is
Freel
Hatte

EE
Dunn
Rich
Ross
BP

At least I finally have figured it out.

PuffyPig

Clayton has close to a .400 OBA this year vs. all LH pitchers.

Hatteberg seldom plays against LH pitchers, unless there's an injury.

Clayton vs. a LH pitcher at SS is our best option. It's sending Hatteberg to the bench, and Clayton is actually a better option in this circumstance. It also saves Hatteberg to PH later against Qualls/Wheeler/Lidge which is a good weapon to have.

OnBaseMachine

My lineup would have been:

RF Freel
1B Hatteberg
LF Dunn
3B Encarnacion
CF Griffey Jr.
SS Aurilia
C Ross
2B Phillips

Or flip flop Ross/Phillips.

I saw him pitch against Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. It is obvious that the scouting report on Arroyo is just wait on the curve, he throws it for strikes, and throws it often. Guess what...his ERA has gone through the roof lately. Arroyo needs to make adjustments...he really hasen't...and it shows.

i think it's more an issue that the way Arroyo delivers the ball that lefties get an exceptional look (possibly even seeing his finger placement) at the pitch. you don't really want a pitcher messing around with the delivery aspect of his motion after the low minors.
