Hatteberg seldom plays against LH pitchers, unless there's an injury.

Clayton vs. a LH pitcher at SS is our best option. It's sending Hatteberg to the bench, and Clayton is actually a better option in this circumstance. It also saves Hatteberg to PH later against Qualls/Wheeler/Lidge which is a good weapon to have.

i think it's more an issue that the way Arroyo delivers the ball that lefties get an exceptional look (possibly even seeing his finger placement) at the pitch. you don't really want a pitcher messing around with the delivery aspect of his motion after the low minors.

This game reminds me of Friday's game against Paul Maholm. The Reds had plenty of opportunities to score a bunch of runs early in the game and they failed, and ultimately lost the game. Tonight's game appears to be going down the same path.

Arroyo seems to follow a real pattern of giving up a clunker or two early before settling down. He pitched pretty well tonight. So it's very important that the Reds' offense turns up mid-to-late game when he's pitching. It's absolutely pathetic if the Reds manage to pitch ok against the Astros only to lose on offense.
