Clayton batting second?

goodwilly98
08-21-2006, 06:59 PM
Clayton batting second?

Well he is 9-21 lifetime against Pettite, so for once I can actually justify him being in the 2 hole

MaineRed
08-21-2006, 07:07 PM
I like the line-up.

Hatte gets a night off against a tough lefty. Rich has been pounding lefties all season.

I imagine Clayton hits pretty well, career wise against lefties. Don't know this for sure though.

You could argue Phillips at the two but at least this way it allows Phillips to create some havoc at the bottom of the order. If he gets on, maybe he can steal a base and then get bunted by Bronson to third. It gives Jerry some options down there instead of having what the board would call two automatic outs at the bottom of the order.

Royce can swing the bat. We know he is not Barry Larkin but its not like he is Larue up there. I'm far from a fan of the guy but he can help the team with his bat (insert defense joke here).

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:16 PM

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:24 PM
Griffey lines a single into right... Here's Eddie!

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:25 PM
Eddie grounds to short for the Force out... Berkman-Scott-Huff due up

keeganbrick
08-21-2006, 07:28 PM
Jeez, Arroyo can not get lefties out, maybe try walking them?

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:29 PM
Arroyo K's Scott... 1 down

Another LH, another HR.

KYRed
08-21-2006, 07:31 PM
Wow, what's Bronson's HR per 9 total since the Allstar break. I'd be shocked if he isn't worst in the league during that time.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:38 PM
Aurilia with a bunt single...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:40 PM
Ross walks... Phillips up with 2 men on...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:43 PM
Phillips with an infield single... C'mon Arroyo!!! Help yourself

It seems like we always load the bases for Bronson.

Crowd looks real weak tonight.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:47 PM
1-2 coming to Freel...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 07:48 PM
Pettitte up to 42 pitches...

08-21-2006, 07:50 PM
Freel K's....well... C'mon!

KYRed
08-21-2006, 07:59 PM
Arroyo gets Lamb to pop up w/ 2 outs and Biggio on 1st after a walk. Big out there as we all prefer Berkman coming up to open an inning rather than w/ 2 on!

Jefferson24
08-21-2006, 08:05 PM
too many called strikes!

KYRed
08-21-2006, 08:21 PM
Not to often that a pitcher has to throw 75 pitches to get out the 3rd inning...while maintaining a shutout!

7 of 9 Reds outs are K's.

Jefferson24
08-21-2006, 08:26 PM
We have to come up with some big hits. They aren't going to get those type of chances too many times in a night.

Jefferson24
08-21-2006, 08:30 PM
Another K, what a surprise.

Razor Shines
08-21-2006, 08:35 PM
Pettite is just on tonight. We've done a good job to work him for all we can and we've gotten lucky in loading the bases twice. Jr's the only one who's hit the ball hard. The hitters have done what they have to to get his pitch count up and he won't be around too much longer. Hopefully Arroyo can hold the Astros where they are.

Razor Shines
08-21-2006, 08:47 PM
Of course quick innings like that don't help our chances.

Billy_Bearcat
08-21-2006, 09:00 PM
Need to get a run here. Petitte deep into the pitch count at 113.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:00 PM
I bet Aurilia's back is hurting... He's carrying this team tonight...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:01 PM
116 pitches now for Pettitte

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:02 PM
3-2 count once again!

jesusfan

Ross walks... Pettitte surely is gone...

Billy_Bearcat
08-21-2006, 09:03 PM
How's the 'Stros pen?

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:05 PM
Springer coming in... He's pretty good, but hittable... My guess is Hatte pinch-hits next... Hopefully the one lefty for the stros in the pen will be saved for later on for Griffey and Dunn...

Billy_Bearcat
08-21-2006, 09:06 PM
Springer pretty stellar against the Reds in the past.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:07 PM
Phillips barely held up right there...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:08 PM
And here comes the 3-2 to BP!

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:09 PM

Billy_Bearcat
08-21-2006, 09:10 PM
Shoot.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:11 PM
That's 9 men LOB through 6... I'm gonna call this one right now.. If we hold them to 2 Runs we will win this game!

keeganbrick
08-21-2006, 09:13 PM

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:14 PM

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:14 PM
1 down... grounder to Phillips...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:16 PM
Ok... Cormier let's me down... 3-0 Stros...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:17 PM

Scott is a left handed specialist while Cormier is actually better against righties than lefties.

Razor Shines
08-21-2006, 09:20 PM
Assuming the righty stays in would you pinch hit Hatte for Royce and move Rich to SS? Or would you save him for later?

keeganbrick

I would just save him, we just need baserunners at this point. Royce has shown decent patience at the plate tonight.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:22 PM
Freel needs a break... check-swing back to the pitcher.. 1 down

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:23 PM
well... Phils are up 4-0 on the Cubs... would be 1.5 GB if the Red's lose...

Guess Franklin isn't going to be the fifth starter. Bad thing is it will probably be Michalak again.

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:29 PM
I don't think down 3-0 in the 8th is called the set-up man.. but not quite sure of that...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:29 PM
Taveras flies to Griffey.. 2 down

keeganbrick
08-21-2006, 09:30 PM

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:30 PM
Easy 1-2-3 inning for Franklin...

jesusfan
08-21-2006, 09:31 PM
I would love to see Franklin used as the 5th starter... He has decent stuff... good Curve- Sharp Slider- 92 MPH fastball... What does Micholok have... an 81 MPH heater, and a 62 MPH curve... for goodness sakes I have been clocked at 84... sign me up!

Me too, but they didn't try to stretch him out on rehab. I don't think they like him as a starter.
