That's what I'm hoping too. The guy has been great so far, but I've been conditioned to believe impending doom happens to every Reds pitcher that has been historically disappointing. I still hold my breath every time Milton starts as well, even though he's been significantly better than last year.

The playoffs might be made or lost based on the performance of Lohse and whoever the #5 starter ends up being.

This is the lineup now for sometime vs. a RH starter.

Last night we saw our LH starter lineup.

Other than the switch of catchers, and rest for starters, I would expect this the rest of the year.

What?

You mean they aren't going to call up Johnny Bench's half brothers stepson or Don Gullets horse doctors son who played class A ball?

Darn...... I miss Marge.

Rotoworld reporting Meche scratched from his start meaning his likely about to be traded.

We're guessing that Meche wouldn't have made it to any National League team on waivers, so if he's being dealt, it's probably to an AL contender

Great lineup (though I hope our luck improves over past "great" lineups) and Go Reds! With Shawn Green getting traded from the Dbacks...is that a sign that they are throwing in the towel? I have not heard Green's name much this year though....

Am I the only person to think this statement makes no sense?

Wouldn't NL contenders have a chance to claim him before AL ones? Most NL contenders have worse reocrds then AL ones.

People who haven't gotten over the strike need professional help.

It isn't the strike itself, but that they fell off the Reds bandwagon during the strike and the bad years between 96-05 have dampened any need to return. Give the franchise some winning years and a character like Homer Bailey, things can rebound by decades end. But that is asking alot.

Dunn looks awful. He picked an awful time to have the worst month of his career. I've never seen him swing at so many bad pitches. And for a hitter of his caliber, he sure does get ahead 3-0, 3-1, 2-0 and find a way to get out way too many times.

I would love to know why Dunn's once incredible plate discipline is now dimishing.

Dunn does drive me crazy..... he goes for a long stretch where it seems like he strikes out all the time and then pow he drives a long ball and all is forgiven. These start up pitchers seem to get to the team too. Let's start at the ninth inning and go backwards, that way I can go to bed early.

One small observation, and correct me if I am wrong:
We have given Clayton a lot of grief. We've torn the guy apart. It is also rather obvious the guy has lost his starting job and will mainly play when lefties are on the mound.
Yet, I have not read about him complaining once. After the Hattenburg HR, he was one of the players with the biggest grins on his face, even danced a little jig.
By no means should Clayton be our starter - and I think he realizes this. It is nice to see a guy whose ego does not overshadow his talent.

Reds are now close to 200K over last year after the same amount of home games.

They are averaging 3K more per game for the year.....and 6,300 more per game over the last 16. Small steps.....but 100K improvement in 16 games. If they can stay in the race....they should approach 2.3, 2.4 million.

St. Louis has had how many winning seasons in a row? Plus you got the Mark McGuire years that are still reaping benefits with season tickets (people who bought them to see McGuire and kept them). In 1999 the Reds sold out the one game playoff with the mets in like 13 minutes.

The offense they provided has been matched, or even eclipsed by Encarnacion, Phillips, Hatteberg, and I like Freel and what he's given to the RF position.
