Bray got a 1-2-3. There's still time for a few runs here.

If we can just hang on until September...I really think this club would benefit from a call up from one Homer Bailey. I don't want to ruin his development, but I do think he gives us one thing this bullpen desperately needs...a true overpowering arm. Someone that can miss bats. If he could be what "K" Rod was to the Angels a few years back...this team could be very interesting in a short series.

I love Marty. "If this bullpen were an old house, you'd condemn it." I wish he would have been calling the play by play during the 6 run inning. I like Steve, but Marty's the best when things are at there worst.

You have to give Michalak credit for *mostly* keeping up with Oswalt. Innings 1-6 were pretty decent.

It Would Have Made Sense To Bring Bray In Last Inning Especially If Your Using Him Now
Maybe. But he's been inconsistent this year. He's had games where he's come in and gotten beat up on. Cormier is supposed to be our LH specialist. It's pretty much a roll of the dice for Narron with this bullpen.

Major props to Michalak. Honestly, before the game, I thought the Astros would rout us. Nice to see Michalak pitch so well.

I Don't Know About Cormier Being Are LH Specialist....His Stats Showed That Right Handers Were Batting Much Worse Against Him Then Left Handers....I Continuely Do Not Know Why He Brings Him In To Face Left Handers....Sure He's A Lefty But Doesn't Mean He Can Get Them Out Better Then Righties

Righties Batting 224 against him and lefties batting 286....Cormier Should Not Be Used For Are LH Specialist

The Sad Thing Is That Narron Keeps Putting Cormier In Vs. Lefties.....I Really Don't Understand It and It Bugs The Crap Out Of Me

Looked it up and you're right about his spits. I wonder if they've gotten that bad since he's been with the Reds. But still Bray has been even worse against lefties this year. So it's not like Narron has a lot of options. Like I said Narron is rolling the dice with whoever he sends out there.

Yea I Agree He Is Rolling The Dice.......Out Bullpen Just Doesn't Have Anyone Out There To Really Come In And Get The Lefty Out When We Need It.....Mercker Being Hurt Really Damaged The Bullpen

Todd Hollandsworth now has a two hit day. At least something positive comes from today, as it looks like he's shaking his slump.

Yup, worst case scenario we head to the West Coast with our bullpen only having been used 3 innings the last 2 days and only 6 innings in this series.

Tough loss after Michalak pitched so well. But 4-6 on the home stand is not bad. Hopefully we can get something down out west.

Don't look now but Jr's OBP is up to .317 from .288, and he is getting on base at a .386 clip for August, which is so far his best month of the season. So much for him getting worn down. If he keeps that up for the rest of the season I have no problem with him being in the 3-hole.

Edit: I mean you can look now if you want, it's not like those numbers are wrong or anything. It's a stupid expression and I don't know why I used it.

Somebody please start another bash Narron thread.....how in the world do youleave you pitchers out there to give up 6 runs that late in a close game? I saw very little of the game....maybe I missed something.....but everytime I walked by the TV, there was another single and another Astro scoring.

Who was really responsible for the runs scoring, Coffey or Cormier? The box does really tell the story.

Both, Coffey put them on and Cormier got 'em in.

He used four pitchers that inning. Poor pitching was to blame.

He used four pitchers that inning. Poor pitching was to blame.I agree. I don't think there was a right button to push in that bullpen today. Makes me wonder if the BP guys rested up or partied down after last night's game.

OK, guess I missed the pitching changes....I am just not used to this continuing mess of a bullpen.
