He only played like 3 innings last night due to the good ole' fashioned butt whooping the Reds put on the 'Stros last night.

Hollandsworth the past 3 years against Oswalt...

Not too bad, eh?

On the Hatteberg single, the RF threw to 1st to try and catch Hatteberg rounding the bag. Berry & Philips saw it, and took advantage.

What happened?

Hatteberg hit a single and they tried to get him off first when he was rounding the bag. Berry saw that and sent Phillips who never slowed up and made it home.

This is the way it sounded from Marty at least.

If your sentence ended in Harang/Arroyo/Oswalt/Maddux/Clemens(I think you get my point) i would agree with you. But this would be what you would call, building for future performance. Let him end on a positive note. Build his confidence for his next start.

I think it was the wrong move. Michalak's a 35 year old career minor leaguer who's tired. Even with it being the bottom of the Astros lineup leading off the inning, a guy like Ausmus is still a major league hitter, and is going to crush a guy with absolutely nothing left in the tank. We have to be happy with the 6 solid innings of out-pitching Oswalt, and just move on to the pen.

Getting the leadoff hitter on, then in scoring position, brought Coffey into a stressful situation. If Coffey comes into the inning and leads off, and retires an awful hitter in Ausmus, then it's one down with Oswalt up, and in my mind, this inning never happens. Narron did NOT lose the game... Im sorry, but he basically allowed him one base runner in the inning. He let him pitch to Oswalt because he knew that he was bunting. Is it Narrons fault that Coffey walks Tavares and then gives up a single to Burke. Do I think it was the right move? No. But it was a valid option, and with a long impending road trip, I wasnt a bad gamble to try and squeeze three more outs out of Michalik. If anything I would point to which bullpen guy he choose, Coffey has been less than stellar with runners on base as of late.
