No link, nothing has it updated on any site I've looked at, but I was watching ESPN and they said he was cleaning out his locker. 15 minutes later they updated with the whole breaking news thing to report that the Padres got him.

Does that mean he'll start this weekend?

Wells traded for C George Kottaras.

I loved him on Seinfeld...I thought he worked for the Yankees?

Ok, the pads got Wells, but are we really missing much. We all now hes injury prone as of late, he's 2-3 with a 4.98 era. He also has given up 10 hr's in 47 innings which would not bode well at gabp. Arroyo has given up 29 hr's in 189 innings and leads the nl in hr's allowedi believe @ around .153 per inning, and wells is sitting at around .212 an inning. Lets hope we jump all over him in the series at home and not getting him helps us more than getting him would have.

Kottaras was the Padres' No. 2 prospect per Baseball America. The Reds' No. 2 prospect was Jay Bruce. Would Krivsky have been justified in trading Bruce for Wells? I think that would qualify as leveraging the future for a gamble and a shaky short term solution to the rotation. Wells may be great for the remainder of the Padres' season, but I'm glad the Reds did not pay this kind of price for him.

I agree completely. I see this as the difference between Dan OB (and Jim Bowden) and Wayne K. Krivsky has not mortgaged our future for temporary fix now. The playoffs are gravy this year, we need to continue building piece by piece. It's also why I'm glad to see that Homer Bailey is not on the 25 man roster this morning. One step at a time.

Especially seeing everyone, including San Diego, couldn't have been bothered to put in a waiver claim on Wells just three weeks ago and now the Padres have to give up a top catching prospect based on Wells having three good starts in August.

Wells is 2-3 with a 4.98 ERA. Since returning from the disabled list on July 31, he is 2-2 in six starts. He has a 2.65 ERA in his last five outings beginning August 5.

Nah. We don't need him or Bailey. Let's just give up.

On the radio, they said Wells was starting Sunday vs the Reds. Let's make this trade look bad for the Pads :)

I'll second that notion....and let's make him look like he did earlier in the season during his first two starts of the season for Boston, well minus his injuries...never want to wish for someone being hurt.
