No $#%@ Red in Chicago. All season long the home games have been starting at 6, meaning they are blacked out on directv. Then today I am out of the house all day and figure I can see the game when I get home. But of course not. The game wouldn't be blacked out, the FSN crew is obviously on the left coast and it is 10 o'clock at night for crying out loud. Show the darn game! Especially being such a big game. I live in Maine, so it wouldn't affect me one bit but I think the only games that are not shown should be home games. ALL road games should be televised as you are not losing any revenue when people decide to stay home and watch.

By the way, I tried the radio link but I got a message that said mms is not a registered protocol. Anyone know how to fix that?

Not that swinging at the 1st pitch continuously is a good thing, but doing it occasionally is okay. You're never guaranteed results, but if you never do it, the pitcher gets an easy 1st pitch strike, and that will put you in a big hole.

Yeah, let's ignore years of sub-mediocre to awful pitching he did in Minn.

His track record obviously isn't great, you wont get any disagreements there. However, he's pitched very good since being moved from the rotation in Minny and has pitched well as a Red. I wouldn't call one crappy pitch "letting the air out him". Guys do improve, and it will take more than 1 game to decide his current abilities.

With top of the Padres order coming up, Reds need to get a lefty up in the bullpen. Don't relish Lohse against Giles/Walker next inning. Bray should get ready.

Surprised that Lohse is still in there.

Peavy bunts, and instead of waiting to see if the ball will roll foul like the announcers were guessing, Ross grabs it and guns to first for the out. Barfield to third on the 2-4 sacrifice.

The "he's hurt" spin doesn't have much impact, considering the Reds simply rested him a week or two before sending him back out to pitch in the minors. Obviously, he wasn't hurt that badly.

Of course, the Reds will face David Wells, who will be pumped up for the game. Problem for the Reds is that Wells never walks anyone thus taking away a key Red offensive tool.

Reds will need a win tomorrow to avoid dipping below .500. For a number of Reds, they might refer back to this past week if Krivsky decides to remove them from the team in the off-season.

Having followed the team this past week, all I can say is that it has been most unpleasant.

Dunn waves at the first one, takes the cutter just outside, fouls back a fastball, and feebly reaches at the last one to give Jake his 14th strikeout and a two-hitter. 7-1, San Diego takes it.

Reds fall 1.5 out in the wildcard again.

Reds lose, but a really impressive performance by Peavy. Someday I hope the Reds get some pitching. Someday.

He'll be better than average defensively, much better. He has excellent instincts/reactions.

I doubt, however, that he'll spend a lot of time north of a .750 OPS.

I'm just saying that if he's only average at SS like Flyer suggested, that would still make him an asset.

EE and Phillips are two guys I see as mainstays the next few years. Where Phillips plays depends on who else the Reds gets in the off-season. If they can get a good shortstop, he'd probably stay at second.

In the end, it's hard to blame this game on anybody.

Lohse pitched a decent enough games. It would have been a good idea to end his night at 6 IP and 3 runs for the need of scoring runs, but even after that, if EE makes a decent play on the ball instead of turning it into a double Lohse only gives up the 3 runs instead of 4.

Hard to blame the offense the way Peavy was dealing. He was unhittable tonight. When Peavy is on, it's awfully difficult to beat him.

I certainly agree that he'll be a fine SS, perhaps a gold flover one day.

He has spent all season in the .800 range of OPS, so I could see him spending lots of time above .750. After all, he's spent all season .50 points above that range.
