Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

[trumpet]

It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head

Any updates on Ken?

I'm a little shocked that he was out more than a game or two as first reported. They are usually so accurate and forthright in those assessments.

He is using this as an excuse to call it a season. Do you think that Freel would of missed a week with a dislocated toe??? Please.....

I could think of a few ways his money could be spent to benefit the team. Give me a break....right now, Jr is doing nothing but hurting the team. Anyone who disagrees needs to get a flex capacitor and head to 2006. :)

I can see both sides of the coin here. I'm sure playing CF with a banged up toe hurts, but I think one of the corner OF positions would be a little easier. It is a playoff race.

It seemed to me that George Foster was implying that Jr. just doesn't care and was looking for a reason to sit the rest of the season. If he was looking for excuses not to play why even bother coming back from all the injuries? And it's not as if he got hurt doing something stupid, he was climbing the wall doing his best to help the team. This, I don't think, is a debate about where he should play or how valuable he is.

How can you have any idea what Freel would do? I don't. Have you ever had a dislocated toe? I have, and I've also had a broken toe and the broken toe was much easier to deal with. You or I have no idea of what the actual situation is with his toe. I would tend to give Jr. the benefit of the doubt, you would not.

Go figure, 4's the answer.

That is not a question and that's what I was responding to. Again I have no idea what Freel would, it would depend on how bad the toe was. I think maybe Jr. has learned a lesson or two about trying to come back too soon from an injury. But that is just a guess, and you could be absolutely right about everything you've said, but I'd tend to give Jr. the benefit of the doubt.

I would love to give JR the benefit of the doubt...but I can't. When you are struggling and your team is losing, that toe seems to hurt a whole lot more. I've had a dislocated toe. Ya it hurts, but some guys can deal with pain and some can't. There are such things as pain pills that can help, and good old fashion lidocaine is pretty good too. If he was batting .300 with 45hrs, and had a chance to win the MVP this year....he'd be playing.

Yea and soon as we do.. the K #'s drop.. the Bat Swings harder.. and he hits 60 Hr's 140 RBI MVP season to take one of those 3 teams to the WS and win :( lol

And that is the catch 22 one Mr. Wayne Krivsky finds himself in. He has a proven home run hitter on his roster, who has become just that a proven home run hitter. He seems to be on autopilot on what he does. He hits a boatload of homers and some of them win games, but he's not adding a whole lot else (I know I'll get flack for this). And when he slumps, he really slumps.

I think the Reds are afraid that they'll trade him, he'll have a coach that gets through to him, and he hits 50+ homers, hits .280 and strikes out about 25% less. Then they'll be kicking themselves for all time ala Pappas for Robinson.

I don't know the answer to what they should do. If I was WK, I'd try a new coaching staff (and manager) for a year and see what results that brings to some of these guys, especially Mr. Dunn. (I know I'll get flack from some for this as well). If Dunn doesn't improve, then I'd probably consider a deal, but I'd like to see what different coaches can do before I'd deal him. (And I know this won't happen).

Not to be mean, but that reminds me of the following joke -

Two old men had been best friends for years, and they both live to their early 90's, when one of them suddenly falls deathly ill. His friend comes to visit him on his deathbed, and they're reminiscing about their long friendship, when the dying man's friend asks, "Listen, when you die, do me a favor. I want to know if there's baseball in heaven."

The dying man said, "We've been friends for years, this I'll do for you." And then he dies.

A couple days later, his surviving friend is sleeping when he hears his friend's voice. The voice says, "I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there's baseball in heaven."

"What's the bad news?"

"You're pitching on Wednesday."

Everyone picking on Franklin and he deserves it. But EE has to make that play. Any good third baseman gets that guy and no runs score.

EE is now better on routine plays, but when he has to throw quickly he almost always makes a bad throw. It's like he throws before he looks at his target. And he still throws sidearm.

With the Reds middle relief, fielders can't give teams extra outs, as EE did there.

Ryan Franklin in 2006 ...

4.42 K/9 ... he strikes nobody out.
3.91 BB/9 ... he walks way too many guys.

That's the perfect formula for a bad pitcher, and that's been Ryan Franklin in 2006.

Lots of good third basemen threw sidearm. George Brett, Ron Cey, Wade Boggs.

In the end, the pitchers have to make the pitch as well and a manager has to manage.

EVeryone will come to see that sooner or later, Randy. A few weeks ago it was the bullpen stunk so bad, you couldn't blame Narron. Then they completely changed the bullpen and the manager can't detemine who to pitch. Then it was "after the last few seasons, he has us with a winning record." Then, the total collapse and all of a sudden, we don't have that anymore.

Narron is simply not that good of a manager and did not deserve the extention.

Will somebody explain why the runner didn't try to score on the Holly fly ball? I must have missed the reasoning behind that decision.

Hard linedrive... Cameron charging hard and catches it. Edwin goes and it takes a 1/2-way decent throw to nail him. Hindsight is 20-20. Tough luck.

Eat Narron's contract. I bet we could take up a collection to help out.

Probably because it was a line drive.Cameron plays extremely shallow, in that situation I think I would have taken the chance.

Seeing Franklin, Cormier and Coffey pitch makes me wish it would have rained all night.

I was thinking the same thing, FCB. I was really laughing in the second inning when Fay and Marty were discussing how if St.Louis won 9 games the rest of the season and we won 14, we'd tie them. Laughing out loud. And I hate that.

IMHO, the 6th inning is way too early in the game for all this micro management, pinch hitting crap.

Just play your damn starters!

And that was a really really bad call by 3B coach.

And bringing in Frankin.

All this makes my head spin.

And has only an average arm anymore.

Can a talented team make the playoffs with a bad manager?
