Per pregame show....
If Tuesday goes well....he will pitch on the Sunday to close out the 2006 season.
Why announce this now? It was clear from Belisle's '05 starts that he is much more effective starting when he is only given an hour or two notice.

This should have been tried long ago. Michalek tonight is exhibit A.

Yep. When Belisle came off the DL, or at least after the WC trip (the abbreviation is intentionally appropriate), I think the Reds should have put him in the rotation for the rest of the year just to see what happened. I don't know if he's the solution to anythin, but Michalek sure isn't.
This team only has two starting pitchers who have proven they can pitch in a major league rotation coming back next year (assuming Milton is traded). They shouldn't be fooling around with the Michalek's of this world.

I think this is a case where it will prove Belise isn't a legit rotation candidate. He's a marginal reliever. I don't think he can consistently make it through a lineup more than once. My guess is that this is a pure desparation move, I mean there would be a riot if Franklin started. No one else to use.
