"And this one belongs to the Reds." Michalak with the win and Coffey with the save. The Reds and Astros only 5.5 behind the Cards for the Central.

I just got back to the hotel a few minutes ago. This rain is nasty. It was nice to see the Reds pull of the win and Hopper and Harris get their first HRs and Edwin winning a little girl pizza for a year on his HR.

I got back about a half hour ago..[soaked!]. The drive home on I-74 and US 27 was white-knuckle time...:scared:

Yes, it had huge puddles forming all around when I left. Maybe a Sunday doubleheader?

Just got home and dried up about an hour ago. Good game and a nice win. Sad that it was my last game of the season. :(

We were thinking on the way home about what high school football must have been like tonight. Muddy. Muddy. Muddy.

How do they do the ticket situation on double headers due to weather?

How do they do the ticket situation on double headers due to weather? The tickets for the day of the doubleheader are good for both games. For the game that is rained out, it is good for another ticket of equal or lesser value for any other game (don't know about the year after though).

...... Astros beat Cards 6-5...who knows?

I was trying to entertain the same crazy thoughts. We know the Cards are perfectly capable of losing 8 in a row; but unfortunately in their current state I don't see how the Reds can finish out with 10 consecutive on the "W" side.

It would be wilder than 1964 (I believe that was the year). Anyway, the Phils were 5 up with about 10 to go. The Reds swept them in Phillie then somebody else put some more hurt on them. Then just when the Reds looked to be in fat city, the Phils caught their breath enough to knock the Reds back in Cincy and the Cards slid by them both on the last weekend to take it all.

I was at one of those Reds versus Phils games at Crosley Field at the end of that season. It (and the Reds hopes) turned on a play where Alex Johnson hit a screamer to left which looked uncatchable. On base for the Reds were as I recall Rose and Tommy Helms(?). Both were off and running full bore sure the ball was not going to be caught. However the Phillie left fielder ran the ball down on the fly in the left field corner and turned an easy double play (or maybe it was even triple play. Time fades the memory). As I recall the Reds and Phils took turns beating each other that last weekend while the Cards swept somebody else to move by them both.

You know, your last comment has been a part of my vocabulary for 42 years. It was a sad day.

Nearly as sad as the demise of this team we watch in 2006. We had it going, but ... well you know what I mean. What I've give...well, you know.
