Maybe he gets to play there when FB pitchers don't go?

What's the use if 18 of the outs end up in the OF glove? :mooner:

Deno gives you much needed speed on the bases now that Freel is done for the season.

Given the apparently fickleness of Narron, I sure hope Deno does something notably good in the last week. Given the 1000's of minor league at bats, it's clear that he's the best option of the 3. Hopefully he can do something so that he's given a full opportunity to win the job next year.

It must make sense in the world according to Jerry Narron.

Or maybe it was just a clever negotiating ploy to force Castro's hand into signing that LTC.

A pathetic display by Ross.......i think this is the first time i have really ever posted that much of blast on a player.....but that was truly pathetic.

It was a lame....side arm throw by BA but Ross still should have at least caught the ball.....it should have been a DP and no runs score.

To me it shows a complete lack of effort.

BCubb2003

Aurilia couldn't pick up a ground ball. With the bases loaded, Arroyo got a ground ball to the mound and threw home for what should have started a double play. Ross couldn't catch the ball, and a run scored. Single with bases loaded scored two. Throw misses the cutoff man, allowing the batter to go to second. He scores.

You would think these guys would luck themselves into some big game of hits and runs.....like in 1989 where they had Jeff Richardson at SS....Luis Quinones at 2B....Benzinger at 1B.....and OF of Joel Youngblood and Dave Collins....and they were barely scoring 1-2 runs per game...yet still managed to bomb HOU 1 day with 18 runs.

Without one of the two Houston debacles in which Arroyo could have been pulled....he would be leading the NL in ERA right now.

Harang also has a shot at the strikeout title (currently 1 behind Peavy) and wins lead (unlikely, but only 1 behind the leaders)

Two different pitchers for the Cincinnati Reds battling for the league lead in the triple crown pitching categories. That's refreshing.

Just got back from the game. :) Sat with TB, TM and Kitty who lost another beer - payable on a date to be determined - because of the Reds' comeback. :beerme:

Had this guy sitting about 4 rows behind us who ragged on Coffey and a couple of other players. But he saved his best stuff for Jr. Said Jr. is on vacation and stupid crap like that. When Jr. hit his HR, he didn't stand up, cheer or even clap. His wife was but he just stayed in his seat with his arms folded. I had to work today, so I taped the game on WGN and just finished watching it! (I avoided all media so I didn't know the result--I know, I'm a die-hard.) All I can say is, WOW! Yesterday's win was great (I was there for that one), but this one had the flair for the dramatic. I was surprised when Cubs announcers Len Kasper and Bob Brenly said that Ken Griffey Jr. was in the on-deck circle to hit for Schoeneweis, and I admit that I jumped up off the couch when Junior hit the three-run PH-homer!

Congratulations to Junior for tying Reggie Jackson for tenth place on MLB's all-time HR list! #563!

From this morning's Chicago Sun-Times:

Burned by his bullpen all season, Baker couldn't believe his eyes.

''Boy, it's like a recurring nightmare,'' Baker said. ''Griffey, that's pretty amazing. The guy hasn't swung a bat in a couple of weeks and walks up there and just hits a homer. It's not that easy.

''That was some hero stuff right there. That's movie-script stuff.''
