I know it's not "Reds" baseball, but did you guys just see that catch by Chavez of Rolen's homerun? Unbelievable!

Play of many post seasons. May be the best catch I have ever seen when you consider the game situation. Rivals the catch Glenn Braggs made in 1990. Actually probably a better catch than Braggs but I'm more partial because Braggs made his catch for the Reds.

I'm an old guy, but Joe Rudi off Denis Menke in the 72 series was better. Ron Swoboda and Tommie Agee in 1969, but few others rival it in the post season. (I'm not old enough to remember Willie Mays off Vic Wertz but saw the replay and it was better too.)

Oh Yeah! Dwight Evans off Joe Morgan in the 75 series was better too.

Whenever I see a catch like that it makes me think of Sandy Amoros.

Better play than the Rudi catch. A more critical situation than the Swoboda or Mays catches. The Evans catch was a more critical situation, but not a better catch.
The only flaw in this play was that the Mets lost.

Actually it was such a heartbreaker (especially with Edmonds being doubled off) that I thought that would be it for the Cards. Of course, I'm not shedding any tears over the Mets losing.

I thought for sure that the karma machine was in gear last night when Chavez came up later with the bases loaded. I kept waiting for that line-hugging double to clear the bases and send Shea into a frenzy. Alas, it was not to be.

Chavez took a course in the Ryan Freel school of drama (as in dramatic catches).
