And this

I don't do anything spur of the moment. Heck, it took me 3 years to finally buy a new computer. I'm a planner.

But I got up today and decided to go looking at cars and just bought it. Didn't need a new car. Didn't even think I wanted a new car.

I took a picture of it with my phone and sent it to Mr creek (who is out of town) and said, look at what I just bought. He thought I was joking. But he took it well.

Life's too short not to have a convertible.

You know Creek, I'm very much the "planner" as well. I had all these big plans for my 40th birthday. I was going to fly to Italy for 10 days. Then I thought I would buy the new convertible. By the time the birthday came around, no passport and no intention of buying a new car, since I had just paid off the last one and was enjoying the freedom of no more carpayments.

Sometimes I wish I could just let my hair down, so to speak, and just do something spur of the moment. My ma keeps telling me that I should do something special for myself. Little does she know, I went "crazy" the other day and bought myself some new t-shirts and socks, while Christmas shopping. Whew, talk about good times.

What is it?
It's a 2007 Pontiac G6 GT (yes Yachtzee) hard-top convertible. With one push of a button the hard top roof folds into the trunk.

Back in the day I had a 300Z and the G6 takes corners as well, if not better than the Z did. It's a 3.9L/240+ HP. And best of all - integrated XM radio. Man I sing good when I am alone in the car.

It's my *I'm almost 51, I lost weight, Adam has a baby, I have damn melanoma and I'm having hot flashes* mid-life crisis car, I guess.

It's funny, I was thinking about buying a Coach purse last week, but decided that was too much of an indulgence. So I got a car instead. Women, we're an odd breed.

I've never seen a purse in my life that I'd prefer to a new car-great decision Creek!
As for the purchase being motivated by a "midlife crisis," so what? One of the best pieces of advice I've ever received was given to me 4 or 5 years ago when one of my partners, who is now age 80, knew I was wishing I could get a certain sportscar but was prudently not doing so. My partner is not at all a "car guy," but he gave me an article about wherein the author expressed his thoughts about aging and his regrets about not having the same sportscar along with a post-it note saying "think about it." I did. Shortly thereafter I became the owner of a two-seater, since replaced by a newer version of the same sportscar.
Creek, you've been through enough already, and I think it is really terrific that you bought the car. It looks great--enjoy.

It's not real. Not even the car video is real. It's far too staged, and the reactions, with all the darting glances into the camera, are so obviously bunk. The reactions would be much more surprised, guarded, and intense.

The key is to watch the videos first with no sound, paying attention to the body language. It's a dead giveaway.

We test drove the Touring version. Nice, but about 15 grand more then we wanted (and could afford) to spend. I got mine, with Honda employee discount, for 25 grand.

I've owned both a Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan. Nice "economical" vans, but I was told by numerous people who owned these vans that I'd be wise to get rid of it, as they did, before getting 100,000 miles on them, because of transmission troubles. And I started having transmission trouble with the Caravan around 75,000. I realize there are exceptions though.

I just simply love this van and can see the HUGE difference.

I bought a used 1999 Voyager with a lot of miles on it. One of the worst experience in car buying. Transmission needed to be replace twice. I didn't bother with the second time around, I just took it to the Jeep dealer and basically told them they could have it and I got a new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Nice Ride Creek.
I just bought this a month or so ago:

http://www.theautochannel.com/media/photos/subaru/1998/98_subaru_outback.jpg

It's a nice (old) little beater for going back and forth to work and out into the Hoosier NF with my canoe. I miss my pickup- NOT. Seriously, the wife told me I needed something the kids can both ride in and (curiously) here in Indiana it is illegal to let 'em just flop around in the bed. Who'da guessed?

But back to you Creekie. That's a sweet looking car- Congratulations!. GM is putting out some nice Pontiac products lately. I'm hoping some of these new designs can help get the ship righted.

I haven't been there in years. Wonder if the players hang out there? I went to Gecko's a few nights ago for the first time in 10 years and that place is dead. Even the bartenders didn't remember when it was a happening place.

Dunn will probably be hanging out at Chuck E. Cheese this year.
