Cleveland is possibly shopping Westbrook and he is the type of pitcher this team needs. A Groundball pitcher that will fit nicely as a #3 and i would only do it if the Reds had a 72 hour window to try and get him a long term deal. because i wouldnt give up good prospects for him if he walks..

maybe a Ramirez, Cormier, Dumatrait or Belisle
for Westbrook?

Don't talk about Westbrook on this board. Last year there was talk that the Indians offered him to the Reds for Kearns. A lot of people didn't seem to like this move because Westbrook was trash and lucky and they had a bunch of numbers that showed that he wasn't a good pitcher. Personally, I would have done the deal in a second BUT that would have meant no Arroyo so I guess it wasn't the best move. I never could see the reason for everyone's distaste for Westbrook. I personally would have loved to have had him instead of Maj.

He doesn't miss bats. Last year he gave up 247 hits 211 innings. That is a lot of hits for an above league average ERA. Sounds like a defense dependent pitcher to me.

I loathed the rumored Kearns for Westbrook deal, until I saw what we got for Kearns ;)

Anyway, we're out of trade ammo to trade for anyone.

Seems like just the kind of guy WK would lust after then. After you go sign a defensive specialist shortstop, you don't mind a guy that induces groundballs galore. And if Edwin cuts down on his errors and Brandon takes another step toward Pokey-dom, then we just might have the perfect infield for a guy like Westbrook.

Depending on what we'd have to give to get, I am all for it.

It's going to take much more than a group of rubbish to get Westbrook. If the Indians trade him, it will likely take a Jason jennings like return to get him. Either Bruce or Bailey would likely have to be included.

And Jennings is the better of the two pitchers by far.

At any rate, the Reds are as likely to get a pitcher who actually improves their rotation as they are to get the Evolution Revolution to play at GAB on Opening Day.

I would like Westbrook if they could get him and then sign him to extention of contract.

:thumbup:It isn't just the infield that could hurt/help him. Our outfield defense could be brutal to a guy who keeps the ball in the park but allows a lot of contact as well. Westbrook is Paul Wilson the season before the bailing wire and duct tape let loose, both performance wise and type of pitcher. No danks.
