I just don't see any trade permutation the Reds could offer that would get Sizemore that wouldn't be too painful to bare. Over the next five years, Sizemore is projected to cost about $1M/win at a premium position on the diamond (and its alot of wins yet its a projection he could easily beat). A phone call mentioning Sizemore and Freel, Cueto and Wood get's triaged by Shipiro's secretary.

Sizemore has barely touched lefties his first 2 full years. Not saying he won't improve, but it's an important factor whenever you consider him.

In year of insane contracts Schmidt signed a reasonable one.
IMO he would have also been a better fit for GABP than Zito.
Unfortunately he had zero interest in leaving the west coast.

Johan Santana, Miguel Cabrera, David Wright, Joe Mauer, Ryan Howard ... all of them are outstanding young players that I'd absolutely love to have.

But if it's one guy, and one guy only ... it's Albert Pujols, and it's not particularly close.

Pujols just turned 27-years-old less than two weeks ago, and barring a collapse, he's on his way to being the second greatest first baseman ever in the history of the game. I very much doubt anybody would pick any active major league player over a Lou Gehrig circa 1930, but if you're picking an active player over Pujols, that's essentially what you're doing. If Pujols keeps up what he's doing with a typical career trajectory, it's going to be Lou Gehrig and Albert Pujols by themselves at the top. That's it; even Jimmie Foxx will be looking up at Pujols.

Toss in the fact that if this dream scenario actually did happen, the gain of Pujols in a Cincinnati Reds uniform would also mean the loss of Pujols in a St. Louis Cardinals uniform. There'd be nothing else sweeter than significantly strengthening the Reds and also weakening the Cardinals with one giant blow.

As much as we need starting pitching, I think we may need a hitter or a closer even more. I would like AROD and let him return to SS or Nathan!!

Realistically though I would love to see the Reds go after Broxton or Zumaya before they start closing!! Would be able to get them cheaper than when they do start closing and either would be a major upgrade to our bullpen.

Johan Santana is the logical answer IMO. Jake Peavy would be a guy that I think could be had for the right return, if you want to talk about something that is possible.

And, all three of them are only entering their 23 yr. age season.

The Marlins aren't going to want Dunn's contract IMO.
