Blue Jays signed RHP Victor Zambrano to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Zambrano found a team that could have a rotation spot for him, but he didn't get the major league contract he desired. Zambrano hopes to be able to open the year as a starter despite undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. The Jays are probably better off with John Thomson as their fifth starter if he's healthy, but the added depth is nice. Shaun Marcum, Casey Janssen and Josh Towers have seen their chances of beginning the year in the majors diminsh.

Good gamble for them -- no real strings attached, and the guy still has some upside.

I would like to see the Reds take a chance on Armas for a cheap deal w/incentives.

I AGREE WITH YOU flyer85 on Armas but we have more pitchers than they know what to do with now.

My apologies. I thought you were the one who made that joke a few days ago. :)

Then the reds should try to trade for one of the aboved mentioned pitchers..

Pick up on a team that has a weakness, do the blue jays need anything we can offer that wouldnt cost us a arm or leg?

Decent signing. Always seemed to pitch a good game versus the Yankees.

i wish the Reds could have signed him to a similar deal. to me, he's on the surface a better option in the 5th spot than Belisle, Burton, or Ramirez.
