ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin and six other former athletes will be inducted into the University of Michigan Hall of Honor, the school announced today.

Larkin led the Wolverines to the 1983 and 1984 College World Series and was a Big Ten Player of the Year.

He played for Cincinnati from 1986-2004, helping the Reds win the 1990 World Series. He was the 1995 NL MVP and a 12-time All-Star.

On Saturday, when Michigan's basketball team plays Minnesota at Crisler Arena, Larkin will be inducted along with J. Daniel Cline (football), Tom Curtis (football), Ginny Duenkel (swimming), Wally Gacek (ice hockey), Chris Seufert-Sholtis (diving) and Melanie Weaver-Barnett (track, cross country).

good for Barry. He deserves it. Although he came out of a school I despise, he is my favorite Red of all time.
