Anybody hear the latest on Nuxhall. I heard on 1530 today he's in a Sarasota hospital. Possibly a spot on his lung was found. I sure hope not, I don't even want to think about baseball without the old lefthander.

The Hamilton newspaper says it's for "scheduled tests."

Correct. It is for scheduled tests for complications from lymphoma. WLWT says that he is not expected to be admitted.

This is an update from Marty that was on C. Trent's blog:

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Marty Brennaman visited Joe Nuxhall in the hospital today and said Joe, whose lymphoma has returned, is in great spirits.

“He’s approaching this setback like he has every one of them, he’s not leaving open the possibility that he won’t beat it again,” Brennaman said.

Marty said they'd played golf together last weekend and Joe seemed fine. But when Nuxhall came down to Florida, he started having some trouble breathing and went to get it checked out, which is when they found the return of his lymphoma.

“He’s as strong a guy as I’ve ever known,” Brennaman said. “His attitude is so good it’s ridiculous.”

I too would like to echo the well wishes and prayers for Joe....without sounding too sentimental and mushy, I have been listening to Marty and Joe for so long and following their careers and goings on that I almost feel like they are family....as was said earlier...hang in Joe...we need you on opening day...

get well Joe!

man, i agree redsfan1966, i really feel like Joe and Marty are family members. (although I am critical of them sometimes -- but not as critical as I am of my actual family!)

i'm almost 30, and they've been doing reds games my entire life. when i moved from cincinnati, i kept listening to them, and it was like having a part of home with me. they are not only reds baseball, they represent home and family in my head.

get well joe!!!!!

This is very emotional for me. I have been listening since 1974 living on a farm with no cable TV etc. Marty and Joe made my summers.

Hang in there Mr. Joe Nuxhall.

Good to hear Joe's out of the hospital. If he were up for it, I wish they would give him a half-hour post-game interview show after the home games. I enjoy hearing "This is the Old Lefthander, roudin' third and headin' for home."
