Captain Hook is a young 73 years today (Born February 22, 1934 in Bridgewater, South Dakota). Happy birthday, Sparky.

Great manager. Met him at the Reds gift shop at 580 Walnut St back in the day, when I was young. Great memory.

Happy birthday to the Main Spark! He was truly a fine manager who should have never been fired by the Reds and he proved it for many years in Detroit.

Can you believe this man won his 2,000th Major Leage game as a manager while still in his fifties?! Also, he still lives in the same house that he bought in 1969, before he had ever managed his first Major League game.
