From Trent's Blog:
SARASOTA, Fla. -- About to run out to Ft. Myers, but looks like Jerry Narron is sticking to his word of getting as many ABs for Josh Hamilton as possible. Hamilton is going to DH today and bat second.

Hopper LF
Hamilton DH
Encarnacion 3B
Hatteberg 1B
Valentin C
Bellhorn 2B
Castro SS
Denorfia RF
Gil CF
Lohse P

Hopper hitting leadoff. Deno hitting 8th. I continue to think that the Reds see Hopper as a viable bench player, but don't see Deno having a role with the team. Just guessing, don't necessarily agree with it, just a feeling.

I don't this means anything negative re: Denorfia. I think they are using these early games to evaluate other players because they already have a good idea of what Denorfia can do.

There is no way IMO that Hopper makes this team and Denorfia doesn't.

If it was down to Bellhorn/Hamilton, I'd want Hamilton just because we know what Bellhorn is capable of and while Hamilton is a bigger risk he also could provide far greater reward. Just hearing about his arm and speed makes him valuable as a defensive player which is enough to keep Castro on the roster.

Denorfia hitless in spring.
Hamilton was 1-4.
Nice to see Edwin launch.
Lots of good showings from the pen, like the Lizard.

What do you expect Deno to do when Narron can't settle on a consistent spring line-up? And nobody can be expected to hit in the 8th hole. Narron clearly has it out for Deno and that is why he is telling the other teams how to get him out. When will the madness end?
