Elizardo Ramirez is looking rather thick tonight in the waist area. Any concerns about that? He was rail thin before, so it might not be a big issue. But he definitely has established a gut.

Elizardo Ramirez = this year's Josh Hancock

I haven't seen him but I hope the Reds don't do anything stupid.

I noticed that too, and I am a pretty big EZ fan. I wonder what's behind the new belly? poor off season workout?

Maybe all this talk of the beefy pitcher going by the wayside inspired him. He sees David Wells still out there and he's got his hero, no?

Perhaps it's just me, but in thinking about Ramirez's build, I thought of Manny Sarmiento. Anyone else?

He reminded me of a young Pedro Martinez.

Well everyone gets a bit thicker as they get older, just a part of maturing physically and athletes are not spared that. Also, in recent year there has been a significant emphasis on strengthing the "core" which makes one thicker through the middle. The change could be one or both of those issues. With that said, I haven't seen Ramirez so I don't know if he's looking thicker or if he's just sprouted a beer belly.

I didn't pay a ton of attention while Ramirez was pitching last night, but he hasn't pulled an Aramboles yet.
