The Tigers need a left-handed bat off the bench almost as badly as they need a left-hand reliever. They will have extra pitchers to dangle, and it would seem someone -- Chad Durbin, for example -- could be joining a guy like Marcus Thames in a trade for either a reliever, a position player, or both.
-- Detroit News

Will someone please inform SpecialK(rivsky) know that we can get some nice value out of shipping Cormier and Crosby/Bellhorn to the Tigers?!!!!!!!

If votto impresses enough hatteberg + cormeir/shackleford for any young starter not named durbin or grilli.

Personally I'd rather have Ledemza(spelling) or Maroth before I take Durbin.

Do the tigers have another 1b besides Casey? Last year I remember them having to play Guillen there in the World Series.

trade them Hatte in a package for an end of the game type reliever (they have more than 3 of them) and put Joey Votto at 1B now. I think he's ready.

I agree with you about most of them except Hatteberg, which is why I brought his name up.

I think he'd be a great LH hitter off the bench for a team like the Tigers/Yanks/BoSox. Come to think of it, I also think Freel as a supersub for those same teams would have great value- in other words we might just get something in return for them, especially Freel.

I don't like Freel or Hatte as starting players, even for the Reds. But I do like both of them off the bench.

Just my opinion.

I've got an idea. Crosby, Courmier, and Hatteberg for Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin AND cash....

I think we'd have some parts that could fill either of those roles. I think Cormier could be moved. I looked at the Tigers roster though and they've got a couple of their own old-timers in the pen already - Jones & Mesa, plus Rogers in the rotation. I think Bellhorn or Hatteberg could be of some interest. Bellhorn's on a minor league deal, so I'm not sure how that effects things.

I'd lovvvvvvvvvvvvvve for the reds to show some trust in a young player like Votto and let them have a job. You still have Conine for short term insurance if Votto complete bombs.

I completely agree. Even if we got marginal talent from the Tigers for Hattie and Cormier, it restocks the minors and give Salmon/Burton and Votto a shot they deserve.

Jerry Narron will never let a young guy have a starting job without first being a backup. IE EE

That's why Denorfia is struggling to make this club this year. He should be the starting CF, but Jerry Narron is too freakin stupid to realize that an OF with Dunn -- Denorfia -- Hamilton is better than an OF with Dunn -- Griffey -- Freel.

This team will continue to win in spite of Jerry F'n Narron.

Ok so um ah your willing to go with Hamilton who has never played even dbl aa baseball and Denofrio over Freel and Griffey? Thats in a word Ludicrous:eek: . I am loving what Hamilton is doing but common sense says um he needs time to progress and Deno's a heck of a player who I could see playing CF but damn he is yet to solidify a starting spot.

Yes, this is definitely the trouble. The guys we would like to get rid of, nobody wants. The guys we would like to get would take trading players we don't want to get rid of. I know Krivsky gets a hard time on this board, but it doesn't seem like his job is that easy. (I know, he could have made it easier on himself by not signing some of these over-the-hill relievers, but still.)

Wait, I was told Wayne would be able to flip all those aging bullpen arms for prospects this summer. How could nobody want them?
