I think you're getting a glimpse of what Narron will do agains LHP. Freel and then Gonzalez. Phillips bats lower because he "can drive them in".

Edwin is a much better hitter than BP. EdE also has more pop in his bat which you would like in your 3 spot.

I wouldn't put it past him. Gonzalez does have some decent power, it's his awful on base skills that will make him a bad hitter.

That's what I've heard.

Definitely.

With his great fielding abilities, if he can hit for some power, he can be a pretty valuable guy as long as he is utilized near the bottom of the line-up where he can use his power to knock in runs.

I think he is also pretty well suited for GABP. It plays as a homer park where his decent power should translate to quite a few more homeruns while his poor on base skills shouldn't be affected too greatly.

After the grounder to SS (and the apparent great play by Alex G) a K and then a double.

Two outs, runner on second.

Brantley says this looks like a different Milton than we have seen. Working fast, pounding the strike zone.

Base hit to center, runner holds at third. Two on, two out, Einer Diaz up.

Another hit, this one to LF, runner holds up at third, runners at first and third and one out still.

Marty pointing out that Milton's wheels are coming off rather quickly. Brantley says the issue appears to be the breaking ball.

While the talent doesn't seem all that much better, at least we have more viable candidates.

Those moaning about Harang's lack of Cy Young Award respect in 2006 should check out Ben Sheets 2004 season. ERA 3rd in league, WHIP 2nd in league (under 1.00, K/9 4th in league, BB/9 2nd in league, total K's 2nd in league. All that netted Big Ben was a 12-14 record and a single 3rd place vote.

Great point, as one of the moaners, great point. If Sheets pitched on a coast, as opposed to Milwaukee, he would be a household name and then some.

Livingston Ks the next (he didn't mess around that inning).

Middle of the 6th, 5-4 Reds.

The W-L record hurt him. It's not fair, and it's stupid, but that's all there is to it. No one with a 12-14 record is ever going to win a Cy Young no matter what the other stats.

I'm not saying that Sheets would have won with a better record (like Harang, he didn't have the name), but it certainly hurt him. And Harang led the league in wins, didn't he? Yet another reason that oversight was so grave.

Ya know, paint, it really is mind-boggling. Putting in all of the qualifiers that we all must, it's early, etc. etc. etc., it still stuns.

Today's peformance, to put it in context, has two of those hits being off of lefties. And, I think, he has held his own and then some against southpaws this spring.

Good batting eye, great glove, all of it seems to hint that carrying him on the roster will NOT mean Cincy is shortening itself to do so.

Hopper can just plain hit line drives. He is ok in the corner spots, but mostly he is just a pure singles hitter who seems ideal for a reserve slot. Deno is better all around, but hits a lot of ground balls. I think Hopper is probably the better pinch hitter in the late innings.

Yeah. Gutierrez is still in the organization. He played winter ball and hit .260/.366/.467 with 12 homers in 242 atbats. I still think he could be a solid bench player for the Reds in the near future. He's got some decent pop in his bat and will take a walk.

That's what I've heard.

He wasn't brought here to for his offense, however......which is also fine.

As long as he is hitting 7th or 8th thats fine by me. Move Phillips or Hamilton up and Im fine with this lineup.

I don't believe Jesse has played a single game in the outfield in his entire minor league career.

Yeah, nevermind. I believe Tonys Gutierrez is the one who has played both 1B and OF.

Reds win.

Radio guys like Gil's arm, speed, versatility.

Any chance he makes the team?
Last time I checked he was hitting like .220 so far. He's got to hit some more before he can be considered for a roster spot.
