I know it's early to post this since the game doesn't begin until after 7, but I have a question. Is the game on the YES network again? I figured someone on here might have the heads up on that. If so, then I'll find out if the game is also being broadcast using the TVU player.

It's the only Yankees game of this four in a row (Monday through Thurdsday set) that is NOT on YES. Frustrating.

GC, you are new here, but the mods usually request no game threads until a line-up is available...

Lineup for the Reds is in.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure of any broadcast options for tonight's game. WLW isn't broadcasting it, XM isn't broadcasting it, FSN Ohio isn't broadcasting it, YES Network isn't broadcasting it, etc. I was hoping WLW was broadcasting it since it's a nice evening to enjoy a ballgame outside here in Cincy, but no dice.

Also, there's good and bad news for the WLW spring training broadcasts from here on out. The bad news is they don't have another broadcast until Saturday, March 17th. The good news, however, is that WLW will be broadcasting every spring training from March 17th until the conclusion of spring training.*

*The only game WLW isn't broadcasting after March 17th is the March 31st split squad game against Toronto. WLW will be broadcasting the split squad game against Florida that day in Dayton, Ohio.

MLB Gameday is picking up some steam now. Here's what we have so far ...

1) Phillips homered.
2) Hatteberg flew out.
3) Encarnacion singled to left.
4) Dunn reached on an error by second baseman Cano, and Encarnacion moves to second.
5) Hamilton singled sharply to right field, and Encarnacion scored.
6) Javier Valentin popped out to second base.
7) Alex Gonzalez flied out to center field.

It really makes me wonder if Gameday screwed up with the first pitch "in play" results, or if the Reds really did swing at the first pitch every time up to the plate.

I get the impression that the data is simply reserved to the results of each AB. They aren't "wasting time" with the pitch-by-pitch yet.

It's a msitake. It's not the first time that Gameday has done that this spring training.

This makes sense then. The "in play" results are all on the first pitch listed, and the strikeouts are all three pitches long.

The Reds went quickly in the top of the 2nd. Ross struck out, Wise grounded out to second, and Phillips flew out to right.

Reds lead 2-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Gameday is nothing short of awful. They must wait until the inning concludes before providing anymore updates. Anyhow, here's the Yanks in the second inning ...

Matsui singles to right, Posada doubles to left, Cano singles to left and drives in Matsui, Mientkiewicz hits a sac fly to center and drives in Posada, Cano was caught stealing second base, Sardinha doubles to right, Damon flies out.

It's 2-2 heading to the top of the 3rd.

Cyclone792
03-13-2007, 08:16 PM
Reds top of the third ...

Hatteberg walks, Encarnacion pops out to second, Dunn singles to right, Hamilton hits a sac fly to left field and drives in Hatteberg, Valentin singles to right, Gonzalez grounds out into a fielder's choice.

Reds take a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 3rd.

Guess I post the updates:

Bottom 3: Jeter sends a dribbler down third, nobody has a shot to get him. The third infield single for the Yankees already. Jeter steals second, Giambi flies out, Jeter to third. ARod 5-3. Matsui hits one hard up the middle, Gonzalez makes it look easy. Really easy. Unstoppables 3, Pure Evil 2

Top 4: we're getting closer to caught up. The actual result of the bottom of the third was up before the first pitch of the fourth... baby steps. ... Anyway, this is our last trip to Leg-GAG-ends Field today, thank god. Everything's more difficult than it has to be when you're dealing with the Yankees. Although, I will say they were great when I dropped my blackberry today. They were on top of things. Great stuff by those guys. Anyway Ross down swinging. Wise walks. Then Phillips got out somehow, not exactly sre, I was getting the skinny on USF from the Tampa Trib's Brett McMurphy. Then Hatteberg walked and Encarnacion broke his bat on a 4-3. Oh yeah, Brian Bruney is pitching for the Yanks. Unstoppables 3, Pure Evil 2

Bottom 4: Harang still in, which isn't much of a surprise. The starters have been going four. Posada popped up. Cano got on somehow, I missed it, sending in my story for tomorrow. Then a beautiful 4-6-3. These guys are gonna be pretty good. Unstoppables 3, Pure Evil 2

Top 5: Mariano Rivera is in to face Dunn, Hamilton and Valentin. Dunn goes down looking. Hobbs hits one to second, Cano makes a play to his left and an off-balance throw goes above Doug M.'s head and it's ruled a base hit. Hamilton was past the bag when he got there. Quick 3-6-1 ends the inning. Unstoppables 3, Pure Evil 2

Hamilton 2 for 2! :D

Though this is still ST, he's seeing a lot of legit pitching. He starts nearly every game so it's not as if he's getting to the AA and AAA guys.

Yup. I think we've reached that point with him. This is a ridiculous, simply ridiculous streak he is on. And, while we all desperately want to explain it away, at some point, you have to step back and go, "Huh."

And it has NOT been at the expense of crap pitching (entirely), tonite success against Mussina and Mariano. Good at-bats against righties AND lefties over the course of the spring.

Bronson (brother of Dane) was drafted as an infielder. They moved him to the outfield, probably because he was seriously blocked as an infielder. Adjusting to the new position hurt his hitting. The only reason he was called up from AA was that the Yankees had three OFers on the DL, and the Clippers desperately needed warm bodies. Some random stuff about the game... sort of:

Bottom 8: Coffey in. Trying to get some work done, so I'll update when needed, but, you know. Nothing too exciting. We have pretty much backups everywhere in this game now. No. 93 is on deck for the Yanks. That tells you about all you need to know. And Bellhorn's at third. They said this season Bellhorn could play three positions, I think it's more accurate to say he can stand at three positions. Or has the right glove for three positions.... *snip* ....Some guy named Chris Basak singled off Todd Coffey. 4-6-3 for the Redlegs. Third DP of the night.

That's kind of what happened with Andy Phillips. He was a SS in college (Alabama). But his fielding didn't cut it in the pros, so they kept moving him down the defensive spectrum until he ended up at 1B.

They definitely like Sardinha for his bat, not his glove. He's pretty slow for an OFer.

Two more guys get on, but Bubba makes a nice running catch to end the (8th) inning. Unstoppables 4, Pure Evil 2

Yea, his bat has looked pretty good from what ive seen. The yankees definately have a lot more good young talent then they have had in a long time.

Bellhorn doesn't have a lot of redeeming value to the current team make-up.

Unfortunately, we'll probably end up with a 3rd catcher instead... :thumbdown

I don't see Bellhorn making it either, he blows too many routine groundballs.

I remember one game last August, where the entire Sardinha clan came up from Hawaii to watch the Clippers play the Bats. Bronson vs. Dane. Of course, neither of them did squat all night. Until the tenth inning, when Bronson had the game winning hit. Bubba scored from 2B, just beating Deno's strong throw from right.

There's another Sardinha brother, too, but I don't remember what his name is or where he plays.

A clutch HBP for Bubba! :D

I hate Mike Myers. Well, not personally. He seems like a nice enough guy. I hate the idea of carrying a lefty specialist, at least when Torre is managing the bullpen. He comes in, gets one guy out (or not), and that's it. Seems like even more of a waste of a roster spot than a 3rd catcher.

Maybe if he was a good LOOGY. But Myers isn't really all that tough on lefties. IIRC, his numbers were actually better against righties.

I swear, sometimes we didn't see him for weeks. I wondered if he was still alive.
