I just read that the Mets released him..

I wonder if he'd be a decent pick up for the Reds or not.

I'd say he's got some upside for a cheap pick up.

He's worth a shot. Remember, the Reds have numbers but not quality. Only 3 major league average or better pitchers on the roster right now (Harang, Arroyo, Coffey).
