He should be in the rotation period. Heck Belisle should as well. But these 2 have been lights out this spring. Yes, I know.. spring doesn't count but Belisle pitched pretty well last season even though it was only in relief and for Livingston his numbers weren't great but from what I've seen he is worth the shot. Will he get the chance? Who knows.. He should.

5 Games 3 Starts 14.2 Innings 1.23 ERA 2 ER 15 Hits 2 BB 12 Ks

What I would like to see happen:

Harang
Arroyo
Lohse/Milton
Belisle
Livingston

Saarloos
Coffey
Lohse/Milton
Santos
Stanton
Weathers
Burton

With the hopes that the team can deal Cormier

What we will likly see:

Harang
Arroyo
Milton
Lohse
Livingston/Saarloos/Belisle(If Livinston doesn't make the roster then he will be in AAA)

Saarloos/Belisle
Bray
Coffey
Stanton
Cormier
Weathers
Hermanson

Saarloos and Belisle should both be in the rotation over Livingston. I have no problem with Livingston being a swing guy in the bullpen though.

I like Livingston and all, but I've seen one too many Josias Manzanillos to really get fired up about a pitcher being lights-out in spring training -- especially one with no track record of success at the big league level.

I can look at a guy like Matt Belisle and imagine him really putting it together this year, since he's been pretty decent in the past but just lacking that little bit extra. Livingston, I'm not sure what the heck I'm seeing.

I agree with every word of this post.

Well, I like him more than Milton, and since Narron is likely to feel that a lefty must be in the rotation, I would rather it be him than Milton.

I understand that. And I agree: he's probably a bunch better than Milton. But that's pretty cold comfort.

At this point, if that's what it takes to dynamite Eric Milton out of the rotation, I am all for it.

And, FCB, while Livingston ain't gonna put up a sub 4.00 era, he m i g h t be able to get sub 5.00 if he pitches like he did today, keeps the ball down, pumps the strikezone, changes speeds. He got a lot of ground balls today. It's a better attack for this team in that home park than what Milton brings...

Livingston didn't hurt himself one bit today. That's for sure. The idea of Milton heading north with this team turns my stomach. I understand the reasons why, but I'd love for the Reds to send a message to the fans and send him packing. Belisle, Livingston, & Santos have all earned the right over Milton.

I see your point, however, spring is all we have to go on with Livingston. He's been very good and the fact he's a lefty is always a plus.

today, Bobby Livingston is a talented, young lefty who has command...tommorrow he's a crafty lefty who knows how to get guys out...the day after next he's a veteran, lefty specialist out of the pen

I just don't know if his stuff is good enough to merit the heapings of hope and praise...maybe a left-handed version of Ramirez

And for what it's worth, I'd love for both to become very successful...but I just don't know if they are above the dreaded AAAA level...
