Chris Henry Arrested For Traffic Violations
March 27, 2007 11:42 AM EST
The failure to use a turn signal has landed Cincinnati Bengals wide reciever Chris Henry in hot water with the law again.

According to court records, Henry was driving his car in the 1100 block of Vine Street when police noticed a car not using the turn signal. After police pulled the Cadillac Escalade over, they found that the third year player was driving on a suspended license and did not have his seat belt on.

He posted the $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 16th.

Does this guy not understand what a suspended license means?

In that part of town, a Cadillac Escalade got pulled over for not using a turn signal? Think they maybe were looking for something else there? Good grief.

Way to go Chris. Hire a driver.

Henry was not arrested, only ticketed. The game is still on.

Reread the headline. Also note that he had to post bond.

In light of this new evidence, which corrects some factual errors presented in the original post, I declare this contest still in play.

That's OK. I'm sure he won't mind.

I think Bengals fans should be proud of Henry. He wasn't caught with weed, booze, guns or hookers. So he's learning. ;)

Does that mean he learned to have other people bring that stuff to him instead of getting it himself?

From the Bengals website:

Notes: Henry pays fine
By GEOFF HOBSON
March 27, 2007

Updated: 4:45 p.m.

Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's minor traffiic violations have no impact on his probation status according to one of his agents.

"It's nothing. It was a fine. He thought it was taken care of," Marvin Frazier said Tuesday afternoon. "To me, it seems like there is a witch hunt for Chris Henry. He's been doing everything that he's been asked to do."

Henry, who has been arrested four times, was cited for three traffic violations while driving on Vine Street in Cincinnati last Wednesday afternoon: driving with a suspended license and without a seat belt and failing to signal, and paid $100.

The timing has turned the violations into a furor. The NFL owners are meeting this week to give NFL commissioner Roger Goodell the go-ahead for a harsher player conduct policy, and Henry is set to meet with Goodell next week.

The Bengals released this statement:

“While the incident involved a minor traffic matter, the Club is frustrated that the issue arose at all. The Club will await commenting on this specific matter until it is ruled on by the court, and Chris’s overall future with our team can be determined only after this and other pending matters are resolved by the NFL.”

He just hadn't yet reached the corner on Vine where you can pick up all 4 of those items in one stop. :D

I doubt it. They value him so much that they won't cut him over a traffic ticket.

Doing "everything he has been asked to do?" (via his agent)

How exactly does driving around on a suspended license = "doing everything you've been asked to do?"

Ridiculous.

They can't cut him over a traffic ticket. They can only disapline him to the amount allowed by the league. That's why next weeks announcement is probably getting a lot of fanfare. I wouldn't be surprised if teams will now be able to cut a play. And, from the talk, it would be retroactive to alst year.

See ya', Chris.

According to the news his license was suspended because of points after missing a court date. Also if I remember correctly they said he applied to have his license reinstated and that it is now valid. I could be wrong about the last part, but I think thats what I heard.

I'm gonna cut him some slack because Escalades don't come with turn signals. That's what I figure since the people around here driving them don't use'em. ;)

No kidding. As far as I can figure out, I am the ONLY person in Cincinnati who uses turn signals........ but I've never seen a cop pull anyone over for that particular violaltion (though they should be getting them by the hundreds).

So, did the cop bust out a taillight with his nightstick, too? Henry has made his bed, but there is no doubt he was pulled over with hopes of a big bust.

That's odd. In Texas Escalades come with turn signals; but pickup trucks don't. :)

Around these parts, those who use a turn signal are a VERY small minority.

Just this morning, there was a marked police car driving in the HOV lane with just the driver in the car. I guess some cops are picky, others are nonchalant.

I wouldn't be surprised if they pull cars over when they notice some patterns, like having seen the car pass the same places a couple times. Especially if it's some tricked out Escalade. Maybe Chris should buy an '88 Cutlass Sierra.
BTW, one of the strangest things to see in that part of OTR is a white guy in a sedan, cruising for hookers or crack. I mean, I can spot the guy from inside a bus going 30 mph- you can bet everyone in the neighborhood notices him.

Yeah, but if I had to square off against someone who cut me off, I'll take my chances with the driver of an Escalade over a pick'em up truck.
