Reds44, your Marlins lineup is short one player. Batting 7th is Borchert, or something like that.

Don't the Reds have a split squad playing Toronto in Dunedin? Obviously, they're players left behind when the regulars came north. Does anybody know who's playing, or does anybody care?

Well based on what we have been told, can't we logically deduce that he has been eliminated from the bullpen?

Rotation: (5)

1. Harang
2. Arroyo
3. Lohse
4. Milton
5. Saarloos/Belisle

Bullpen: (7)

1. Weathers
2. Stanton
3. Coffey
4. Cormier
5. Burton/Santos/Coutlangus
6. Burton/Santos/Coutlangus
7. Loser of Saarloos/Belisle rotation spot

Narron did say that 2 of Burton/Santos/Coutlangus would make the team, and that the loser of Belisle/Saarloos would occupy a bullpen slot.

As of now, I doubt Hermanson is going o make the team, let alone be the closer.

i think we are looking at starting the season with milton on the dl and saarlos as the 5 man with belisle in the 4. who knows how long that is going to last though. He improved the worst defense of all time with Gonz, LaRue's wiffle bat is gone, Ross is your starting catcher, Jr is in right giving more playing time to Freel and hopeful surprise Hamilton, and (not saying much) the pitching is deeper than opening day last year. You can't tell me that this team is worse than last years (which wasn't supposed to win 80 games.)

well when you say awful are you referring to the fact that the average age of our bullpen is parallel to methusalah and we still don't have a bona fide closer even though there are still options out there as we speak (Otsuka!) or our bench went from bad to horrible with the recent loss of deno. we're probably going to carry 3 catchers on the 25 man. Our 4th OF has never seen a regular season major league at bat in his life not to mention until march he hasn't seen any at bats in years. Our RF and CF can not play more than 120 games in a season while our LF owns the single season strikeout record. SS has one of the worst hitting field players that we have seen since juan castro was still around. Oh wait he still is here and with narron at the helm he will probably see around 300 AB. Our 1st basemen has to platoon with Jeff (perfect body for a 40 year old mind) Conine because he can not hit better than .220 againsst left handers. 2nd base could be a stud for us his year but who really knows with BP. I like him but he is no Ryan Sandberg if you catch my drift... 3B has the chance to be a great spot for this team except for when EE is throwing the ball to first. As long as he can avoid that we might be ok... Starting pitching is great for us though. Arroyo and Harang make a great 1-2 punch but 3-4-5? Get outta here!! Our pitching coach is named Dick Pole though and I fully believe that is a great omen for us.

I understand everything is not exactly copasetic but as long as you're not focusing on these items i think we are a great team ellipsis

I would just like to  Josh Hamilton for an absolutely incredible spring.

He has done more than any of us every dreamed he would do this Spring....I hope it's a sign of what's to come.

Who would have thunk it?

Scheduled to attend opening day....Bob Huggins and Pete Rose!

Supposedly Pete bought his own ticket

Huggins after a routine Thursday night of drinking:

OFFICER: "When did you stop drinking?"
CHUGGINS: "No."

Huggins after OPENING DAY:

We'll find out Monday, but it should be good! :beerme: :beerme: :beerme:

It sure has been fun and I hope it continues. The more likely scenario is that he hits somewhere in the .240 neighborhood, but plays stellar defense in spelling the OF's weekly. Either way, he gives the Reds much more than Todd Hollandsworth did!

I would like to just add that the experience at Fifth Third Field today was great...the baseball fans of Dayton and Dragons staff need to be applauded for their efforts..I came over from Columbus to watch the game and am just amazed at how the city of Dayton supports baseball...a friend of mine who came over with me said that it just makes him even that more upset to see how Dayton takes pride in the stadium and baseball and how Columbus just chooses to ignore what they have in the Clippers and Cooper Stadium....Major props, Dayton, major props..

I would like to see Hamilton face some Major League pitchers during the Regular Season before I call him our starting Center Fielder. It has been a surprising spring for him but there have been so many people who have had spectatular springs that fade.
