Hamilton in for Griffey?

PHOENIX — Don't have a lineup yet, but someone, whose name I'm not supposed to mention, is taking fly balls in right field right now. So I'm guessing that will give Ken Griffey Jr. a day off, and two days off in a row. But I expect Griffey to play Friday against Zambrano.

Will get you the lineups when I get them. Luckily my Blackberry works in the clubhouse.

Friday is actually decent, 47 and party cloudy. However, it's always colder at Wrigley this time of year, especially with the wind.

On Saturday (the day I'm going) it's supposed to be 37 with a rain/snow mix.

Not to be a turd but I would hardly call Hamilton hot. He had a HR last night which was awesome, but he only has one hit so far this year. Dunn and Conine have been the hottest hitters so far this year.

If you meant hottest as in appearance, though, my girlfriend and mother would agree with you about that. All my girlfriend talks about is Hamilton and two years ago when the Marlins were in town and mom and I were sitting in the Diamond seats she kept on commenting on Conine's butt when he was on deck. :D

Since we all question the decisions of management with the Reds, why would they risk running Griffey out there on lousy days where the conditions might contribute to an injury, of course they will, but why? :confused:

I don't think Jr moved to right to make room for Ryan Freel. I think he made that move knowing eventually Hamilton will have that slot. Freel is not an "everyday" CFer. He maybe in the minds of the management as of now, but we will see that quickly change as Freel wears down during extended playing time.

I didn't say he was "an" everyday CFer. I said he is "the" everyday CFer on this team right now.... and he is.

Can that change? Sure. I just don't see it changing within the first month of play.

Ummmm, maybe hot isn't the right term but this is hardly an adequate explanation. "Only" one hit in how few at bats? Plus two walks in how few at bats?

Maybe not hot (he doesn't get enough ABs to become hot, at least not yet), but he's playing pretty darn well when given the opportunity.

I agree that he has done pretty darn well at the plate but I just can't consider someone with 5 career at-bats as the hottest player on the team. I am extremely happy with what he has done so far, though. I'm looking forward to the future with him as an everyday starter.:thumbup:

My girlfriend seems to think freel is the "hottest" on the team, so I guess that is why he is in center and hamilton is in right, because the female following is still in favor of freel over hamilton +3% in a poll I made up for this post
