About the perfect lineup, considering the players playing....

Freel (CF)
Hatteberg (1B)
Dunn (LF)
Encarnacion (3B)
Hamilton (RF)
Phillips (2B)
Gonzalez (SS)
Ross (C)
Belisle (P)

D-Backs
Stephen Drew SS
Alberto Callaspo RF
Orlando Hudson 2B
Eric Byrnes CF
Chad Tracy 3B
Conor Jackson 1B
Scott Hairston LF
Miguel Montero C
Micah Owings RHP

Sorry about the confusion, folks. :mooner:

With Hamilton in, I think I will.

It looks like the speed is well dispersed in that lineup.

Things to look for tonight:
-continued plate discipline from the Natural
-hopefully Ross will make contact for the first time. It seems like he's 0 for the year.
-hopefully Freel will echo the plate discipline of Hamilton and give us a better lead off approach
-IF...Freel, Hamilton and BP can get on base...steal LOTS of bases tonight

and...

with those guys on base, maybe we can see a better example of small ball and moving the runners...hence getting the right things done with RISP!

Oh, and we're not playing the Pirates.

Just kidding. I like the move too. Hatteberg's bad line in the second slot doesn't bother me too much. Historically he's not that bad there.

I generally don't get into slot hitting for players. Hatteberg has a decent ability to hit, and I think he can bring that regardless of where he hits. Some places he could be marginally better, but I happen to think 2nd spot is a nice spot for his on base abilities in front of Dunn.

I really do like the fact that the top 4 guys all exhibit very solid plate discipline (maybe even 5 if Hamilton continues the patience he has exhibited since spring training.

The pitching has done pretty decent so far. Lohse just made a few big mistakes that cost us but other than that he was doing good. Harang has been good, Arroyo has been good even though he hasn't picked up a W yet, Belisle did good in his first start, Milton has done Miltony. The pen has been doing good so far. So all we need is for the offense to pick up the pace a little bit and we should be fine.

That would be great, if this team can continue to get good/great pitching i'm sure they'll come around offensively, but I really can't stand losing games when the pitchers work so hard and keep the opponent under 5 runs for 9 innings.

I know I hate losing by 1 run too but you can't forget that were not the offensive juggernaut that we use to be. Now our main focus is defense and pitching. But we still have good bats some of which haven't came around yet. It's early Jobu will wake the bats up sooner or later.

I'm looking for Matt Belisle to give the Reds another solid start, and I'm also looking for the offense to have a bit more success tonight.

In Belisle's first start of the season, he faced 23 batters over his six innings ... striking out six, walking only one, and not allowing any balls to leave the park. I'm not expecting a repeat performance, but something pretty decent would be nice.

The team OPS for the last three games: .559, .635, and .715.

In Reds wins, we've seen the following team OPS numbers: .923, .823, .955, and .950.

Get that OPS up over .850 tonight, boys, and put a few more runs on the scoreboard.

Ok, I think you're completely wrong, but ok. He is leading the team in walks this season. Other team's pitchers do fear him. And he did hit 27 home runs last year. And he did score on from third on a pop up to second, he's not that sluggish. yes it was, clearly inside. Still though to close to take. Umps always wanna ring guys up.

You just have to give Owings credit there. That was a perfect pitcher's pitch, a strike right on the black on the inside corner (and yes, it was a strike). The best Hamilton could have done with that pitch is foul it off to get another pitch. He would have just jammed himself and likely made a weak out if he tried to put that strike three pitch into play.

Lohse is a head case with an attitude- he was constantly at war with the management in Minnesota. He's got really, really good stuff. He'll sail along and then lose his concentration, and whammo, it's over. I still think he'd make a great closer; he could concentrate for an inning only. So, why didn't Narron bench Griffey when he didn'y run hard after that single off the wall on Sunday?

There is a difference between not running hard and not running at all.

And whether it's fair or not, Junior's (and Adam Dunn) going to get more rope than Edwin Encarnacion (a second year player) is going to get.

not to rehash the play but I missed it, did he hit a infield pop-up and did not run it out?

Did anybody hear what Marty said on the radio about pulling him? Thanks
