We need one, pretty badly IMO.

2B Jorge Cantu
2B Jamey Carroll
OF Reggie Sanders
OF Emil Brown
OF Marcus Thames
OF Jonny Gomes

We could use another Outfielder, or maybe even an infielder.

Is Gomes really an OFer, or is he a DH that has a position listed?

He was primarily a DH last year, only logging 8 games in RF. It looks like he split time between RF, LF, and DH in 2005.

Jonny Gomes is a younger, right handed Russ Branyan who plays worse defense. He absolutely kills lefties. Give him 250 AB versus lefties and he'll probably go .270/.400/.520 with 15 homers.

The problem of course is where to you play him? Doesn't Conine already fit our righty bat off the bench role?

So we'd only want him out there in an emergency and he'd essentially be a RH PH off the bench.

I'll pass on him unless its a trade for David Ross or Chad Moeller.

Out of those choices, I'd take Thames. Not sure what the Tigers would want. You might be able to get Brown for the cheapest in return though.

Could you get a Thames for Freel?

I agree.. i wanst excited they shipped him off so quick last year... could use him right now of the bench and spell the lefty outfield hitters as well

I watched a Braves/Marlins game over the weekend and the Braves announcers said they couldn't figure out why the Reds let him go.

Alphonse Dante Bichette is eagerly waiting by his phone for Wayne K's call.

I like Gomes but we already have a ton of high strikeout homerun guys. If we need any bats we need guys that hit for average and get on base. However, I'm not convinced we need an upgrade at any position yet. We are two weeks into the season...... the bats will wake up.

What and give up Q too early? That one one turd that stayed a turd last year.

Maybe because the real Cody Ross is closer to the guy who hit .227/.293/.431 in 269 ABs last year than the guy who's hitting a whopping .261/.320/.522 in all of 23 ABs this year?

(Yeah, it was a weird move by Krivsky but it's unclear yet whether we lost a player of any real value.)

I would definitly try to get Jamey Carroll if it came down to the deadline and we needed an infielder. He may be hard to get if colorado is smart.

Easily the best 3 on that list.

Not sure I'd even consider the other 3.
