Brewers lineup is already up

As for the Redlegs, Adam Dunn is on the field right now, looking like he's going to take some BP.

Weeks 2B
Hardy SS
Fielder 1B
Hall CF
Estrada C
Mench LF
Hart RF
Graffanino 3B
Capuano P

per Rosecrans...Reds lineup not up yet...

Well, the good news is Kevin Mench is the only Brewer in the lineup today with a homer off Milton in his career. Mench is 2-3 with a homer and 2 RBI.

The rest of the lineup, career vs. Milton:

Weeks: 0-5, 3 Ks and a walk
Hardy: 3-6, 2 doubles, 2 RBI
Fielder: 3-5, 1 RBI
Hall: 3-10, 3 doubles, 5 walks
Estrada: 6-16, 1 double, 1 RBI
Hart: 1-6
Graffanino: 6-28, 2 doubles

That being said I'll still be in attendance!

We are probably going to see it alot going forward.

As long as EE is hitting the way he is and Conine is hitting the way he is, Conine should be the clean up hitter against a lefty. He is the only right hander that has given consistent quality at bats against a lefty in this young season. I love EE and he is going to come around and start mashing, but the Reds can't afford to have him throwing away at bats the way he has done the past week in the number 4 hole.

Is it just me or does EE appear to be completely losing it. Between the temper tantrum about the hbp, his slump and, narron busting his chops about the "lack of hustle" he seems to be getting progressively worse. Hopefully all he needs is a few good ABs. Heres to hoping he can set his game right versus the lefty

04-16-2007, 06:22 PM
Call me crazy, but I think this is the night we see David Ross start to come out of the season-long doldrums. I could even see a dinger out of him as Crapuano (yes, that is intended) tries to sneak something by him. The question will be whether Milton can even keep us in the game. The answer, unfortunately, is probably not. I see a 7-5 (or 8-6) type game. We do a little more than expected offensively, but Milton blows chunks. I could see him giving up 4 runs in the first 5 innings and looking like garbage in doing so, but Jerry runs him out there in the 6th and he gives up a handful more before you blink. You know...normal stuff. :p:

Call me Nostradamus. ;)

I wouldn't worry about it, just a young guy who's frustrated. I'd hardly call it a temper tantrum, I don't think he even got run for it.

reds44
04-16-2007, 06:30 PM
I think EE tries too hard sometimes. I've seen him get some pitches he would usually mash for a double, either go back to the screen or he just completely swings and misses. He is trying to get 4 hits and 3 doubles every at bat. He's pulling out and trying to pull everything. He just needs to relax and take the ball to all fields like he did last year.

The good thing is he is playing flawless defense.

Same thing goes for Phillips. He's not hitting well, but he is walking much more then he did last year.

Doesn't look good, does it? Of course it didn't look good for the Nats last week when they had a guy with an ERA over 9 facing off against John Smoltz. Turns out the Nats ended up winning 2-0. So you never know.

Milton's fastball just has nothing on it. It's straight, it's up in the zone, and FSN Ohio has it at only 86-89mph. It's just a matter of time before it gets crushed. Bill Hall already crushed one 370 feet down the left field line, but luckily it went foul by only about 10 feet.

Nonchalant? Please. He over ran it. It's a lack of experience of playing in right field. He's not used to the ball slicing on him they it often does down the lines. Milton was fine in the first. You can't give a team four outs.

That was a heck of an at-bat by Hall, by the way, who's been struggling mightily.

Milton's changeups and sliders have been 18-20 MPH less than his fastball. That works no matter what speed your fastball is, but your defense has to make the plays they're supposed to make.

Actually, it does....means you're around the plate, but keeping the hitters off-balance enough that they can't get good contact.

Milton knows his limitations and he's pitching to them...tossing in a good mix of changeups, sliders, slow-curves (even a 61-MPH curve that was fouled off0, fast-curves, and fastballs (88-91).

David Ross robbed of a homer by Corey Hart. Inning over

Hart just robbed ross of a HR

Ross just can't catch a break. He tagged that one, and to the opposite field. That's a good sign. He'd been pulling off everything.

He hits a HR in his next AB. That's my guess.

Wow. When you're in a slump, stuff like that happens. Good swing by Ross though, which was the only positive out of that.

Personally, I thought Junior had more time to get well-positioned to make the catch easier for himself. He "takes his time" getting under flyballs/making catches all the time, this time it just happened to bite him in the butt.

Nonchalant doesn't mean lazy; just that he didn't put himself into a prime spot to make the catch as easy as it should have been.

Watch the replay. That's not what happened. He was moving full speed one way, then had to stop and go back the other way, it was a line drive, not a fly ball.

Wow...the Reds are taking this guy deep, but not quite deep enough.
Could be interesting the second time the lineup goes through this guy.

He's doing what he can, and I wish people here would stop *****ing about him and respect that he's doing the best he can.

I couldn't care less about his effort. I don't want him within five miles of the pitchers mound.

I think the Reds are like a volcano--about the 4th or 5th inning their offense will erupt. Hopefully, by then Capt. Kirk will be on the mound.

I know the old adage of you make your own luck, but come on!

Milton gets a fly ball to right to get out of the first...and Griffey misplays it. There's a run for the Brew Crew.

D-Ross finally crushes a pitch and Hart makes a great retreating jumping catch.

I'm not defending Milton; it just seems like the Brewers love to do this to us.

I watched it a few times. I'm not someone who dogs Junior all the time or anything. JMHO on that play.

Sometimes I am embarrassed to be a Reds fans. I'd like to thank alot of the people on this thread for that.

I miss Stormy and Raisor and intelligent conversation

Puffy, speaking of intelligent conversation, in yesterday's thread you offered 1:1 odds that Lohse would give up at least 5 ER in his next start... I accepted that bet, but I am still waiting on terms.

For the record, and to show you all the depths of my insanity, after finally getting to see some video of Lohse pitching this Spring I made a somewhat substantial with my wife's brother that Lohse would have more wins this year than Arroyo... I made this bet preseason... and I actually really like Arroyo.

you guys are awful... lol. I'm not anywhere close to being a Griffey fan, can't wait to see him off of the books personally, but get off of him for the dropped ball. It wasn't from loafing, it was from not having enough reps at RF to learn how to properly read the ball. Anybody who has ever played in the outfield knows that the ball reacts differently depending on which side you're playing.

That being said, he'd make a fine DH.

I was amazed by Thom saying that Vin Scully said in his 60 years of covering the Dodgers, he has never had as much regret as when they let Juan Castro go.

thatcoolguy_22
04-16-2007, 07:54 PM
IF Milton can pitch 6 innings a game for the next 28 starts with a 26 pitch count per inning he would have thrown over 1200 pitches this season... And at 9.5 mil this year it works out to be $8,000 a pitch. I like to look at it that way :) Completely unreasonable and ridiculous but he is DEALING today people DEALING!!!! another homer
