The thread about players that seem to own the Reds (i.e. Bill Hall) got me thinking about this question. Which Reds players are other teams scared to face. Looking at stats from the past three years (2004-2006) versus teams in our division I found the following:

Adam Dunn vs. Cubs - 1.071 OPS and 20 HRs
Junior vs. Cubs - 1.035 OPS and 10 HRs
Valentin vs. Cubs - 1.099 OPS and 6 HRs (in 63 ABs)
Dunn vs. Astros - .979 OPS and 7 HRs
Hatt vs. Brewers - 1.154 OPS (.404 BA)
BP vs. Brewers - 1.12 OPS (.411 BA)
Dunn vs. Pirates - .998 OPS and 13 HRs
EE vs. Cards - 1.133 OPS and 6 HRs (in 61 ABs)

Arroyo vs. Cubs - 4-0 with 1.01 ERA
Weathers vs. Brewers - 1.32 ERA and 3 saves (0.88 WHIP)
Milton vs. Cards - 2-0 with 0.95 ERA (3 starts)

I know this isn't exactly scientific and there are other factors involved but a couple of things stand out to me. One, Harang did not have an ERA below four against any of the divisional teams. Thats probably more a reflection of 2004 and 2005 than it is of today's reality given his improvements over the past few years. Also, Cubs fans (and fans of most teams) should fear Adam Dunn based on the destruction he has brought on their pitching staff since 2004. Its also good to see how well EE has fared against the Cards although it is a relatively small sample size.
