Hamilton - Do what you do.

Doesn't Lieber usually do well against the Reds?

I think Hamilton would be better in CF than Freel, but he might even be MORE valuable in RF due to the strength of his arm in comparison with Freel's skill-set.

Not picking on you at all WMR, but why is it that the RF is supposed to have the big arm and not the CFer? Wouldn't the CFer have more chances to throw someone out somewhere than a RFer and therefore wouldn't you want the best arm in CF?

I think the argument for having your RFer having the strongest arm is the throw from RF to 3rd.

The amount of times this comes into play during the season makes this a non-issue for me.

In what way do you mean that? In that it doesn't matter where the best arm is at all, or in that the CFer only has a few more chances than the RFer? Or other? lol

Doc. Scott
04-20-2007, 06:00 PM
Even without Howard, the Phils can hit- Utley, Burrell, Rollins, Rowand. Their catchers, Ruiz and Barajas, both have power, Helms kills lefties at least, and even Shane Victorino is no terrible slouch. With Howard out, Helms moves to 1B and banjo-man Abraham Nunez is in the lineup. That's just one zero out of eight, whereas the Astros routinely run two out there in Everett and Ausmus.

Lieber has struggled mightily this year.... 0-0 11.57 ERA. Lets hope that continues.

The first two weeks of the season this bullpen was the best in baseball. Last week, the worst. They probably fall somewhere in the middle. What has hurt other teams in the division, such as the Astros, Cards, and Cubs, has been their bullpen. Bullpens go through stretches like this. I'm not going to over react just yet.

As for Jr.... both Hamilton and Hatte had a stomach virus that laid them up for over a week and kept them out of the lineup. That can't happen to Jr? He's out and he's being coddled or it's possibly an ego thing? C'mon. Some never seem to give up.

So what that he has struggled early on in the season. it's not like its a first for a professional ballplayer. It's 16 games. If he has the ability/talent to begin with, then he'll be fine. All ballplayers slump. He'll come out of it IMO as long as he can handle the mental aspect of a slump, and not let it drag him down.

A trend I have been noticing - and perhaps it is just me.
It seems that in situations where the other team is threatening, our pitchers will get ahead of the next batter. But then that next batter will hang in there, keep battling, keep fouling off pitches until getting the right ball to hit. Seems like it happened a lot against Houston, where their hitters were waiting for the right pitches - and usually getting one. Some of the opposing ABs have seemed epic.
And, usually it seems our guys obligue by eventually grooving a pitch.
Meanwhile, our guys just seem to be getting those types of at bats against the other teams...we go down way too quickly.

oh, and a highlight reel play by Phillips. Wow.
