They might leave him in...this is just what the FO ordered. Torre and Cashman will be safe for at least a few more weeks. :)

Right after he threw the pitch he grabbed the hamstring and was noticably grimacing.

Maybe the pen can shut it down and he can at least get credit for the shared no-no.

Just reported, Hughes is out 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury. With the health of their SP, looks like the Boss must have made somebody mad!

The Yankees' pitching really just can't catch a break. Unless you count Jeff Karstens, who literally broke his leg.

Yes, it’s a left hamstring and it’s a “significant” one according to Brian Cashman and Joe Torre.

Given the Mike Mussina was just out three weeks with a minor tear, you can expect Hughes to be out 6-8 weeks at the very least.

Hughes told us that he reached back on that 0-2 pitch to really bury a curveball to Mark Teixeira. He extended his left leg too much and that’s how he was injured.

Could this have happened in Scranton? Obviously it could have. But Hughes would not have been reaching back to try and make a great pitch to a hitter like Teixeira in Scranton.

There’s a reason prospects pitch in the minors. It’s to develop their bodies along with their skills. Hughes was pitching in high school at this point in 2004. Tonight he was in the majors trying to finish off Mark Teixeira. His arm was ready. His left hamstring wasn’t.

Hope he gets well soon...

Also might be worth looking over this chart from BP as we think about Homer...

No.

Time to move Homer...into that bubble with Junior.

Boy was I deflated last night. But heartened at the same time as he was flat out dominant.

Good thing it is just a leg injury. Let's see what the MRI says before we buy 4-6 weeks. It could be true, Torre kind of just spit it out. After the game Hughes said he was in no physical pain.

What if the REDS packaged Sarloose with Milton?

For who?

For who?

For nothing for all I care. Mostly to get Milton off this team from pitching every 5 starts and to get the $ for a trade deadline move, because I think the REDS will be in it with the Brewers.

I am all for trading Milton, but he is actually pitching pretty well so far. Maybe it will drive up his trade value.:milton:

I wouldn't say he's pitching well but he has been better than expected.
