I think it's going to take more than one bad game against Roy Oswalt to convince Jerry it's not a good idea. We'll see.

It wasn't because of last nights performance. I simply don't believe he's a #5 hitter.

No, I don't think he is either. I'm just saying that Jerry isn't going to stop hitting him there just because he had a bad game against Oswalt. I don't know if Jerry thinks he is a regular #5 hitter, but I think he is going to keep hitting him there as long as he keeps hitting. My guess is that unless he slumps for several games in a row we'll continue to see him there.

I bet Jerry does. With the exception of last night he has performed like a number 5 hitter. I'd say keep him there until he cools off completely.

Remember there's a LH pitching, and Gonzalez has done particularly well against them, a .962 OPS.

Dunn's at .742 vs. LH pitching this year.

Jerry was pimping Gonzo's 20 HR ability in the paper today. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Jerry thinks that alone qualifies Gonzo to hit fifth.

I think M2 was the one talking about this in the lineup thread. The fear of putting a "hot" bat like Gonzo is the 5 hole is that the manager will leave him there LONG after the hot streak is over.

Well, Adam Dunn has performed like a #3 hitter. Why is he hitting 6th?

Because he started performing like a #3 hitter when he was moved to #6...and when he was hitting #3 he was performing like a #8?

If Adam isn't hitting 2nd..(where he should be every night) then I'm OK w/ 6th.

Gonzo started hitting like a #5 while he was hitting 7th. He was moved up and stayed hot, at least for now. Dunn hit well in the 2 hole then was dropped to 3 for awhile and struggled. He's hot again hitting 6th. He should move back up to #2.

5+7 is 12
12 times 2 is 24.
24 x 3 is 72

Yeah, I saw that this morning. I thought he raised an interesting point:

Narron said he thinks Gonzalez's overall numbers are skewed by the fact he often hit eighth for the Florida Marlins.

"I think Alex - when he's selective - has a chance to really hit," Narron said. "I don't know throughout his career what the percentage is when he's hit eighth in the lineup, but that's a not an easy place to hit in the (NL). Get him a little protection and see what happens.

"So far it's paid off."

I think Milty must have slept with Kenny's sister or something. But in all seriousness, I have a sneaking suspicion that Griffey is taking his "demotion" to right field as a sign he does not have to give max effort all the time in the outfield, ala Bonds in left. Either that or he is just not getting a good read on the bat.

Considering the support he is getting, if Milty holds the stros to 4 over 6 innings, I will be satisfied.
