Did Narron tell Dent to put this lineup on the field? Narron is supposed to be attending his daughters graduation today and is not available.

I don't know if they are a lost art, but Hatte doesn't hurt us on the bases anymore than Freel when you figure in stolen bases.

It's to the point where I think Narron is truly ill. Sadly, it is no longer a matter of baseball philosophy with him--it has become a fetish for constant change.

Narron is trying to keep the lineup somewhat set.

He's trying to do what now? :dunno:

UC_Ken
05-04-2007, 05:16 PM
I know having Hatteberg lead off is unconventional but I don't have a problem with it. He's good OBP and if the pitcher is able to sacrifice ahead of him he's got a good opportunity to drive someone in. In a perfect world you'd have a high OBP guy with speed but unless Freel is starting we don't have that guy. I like this better than wasting Hamilton's power hitting after the 8 and 9 hitters.

Actual batting orders may be overrated, but this musical chairs bit can't be helping these guys.

jfar23
05-04-2007, 06:19 PM
So who do you bat leadoff when Freel isn't starting. There is no clear cut answer. I would rather have Hamilton's bat in the middle of the order than leading off but batting him first does give him more ABs. Hatte is about as good an option as any at leadoff.

I've seen worse lineups. Hatte will give great AB's and will take pitches and make the pitcher work. Not too terrible an idea, imo.

EdE's at bat was a fastball right down the middle. It was a 7 pitch walk to Hatteberg and a 7 pitch walk to Junior. Its not like he is amazingly wild. He isn't. It was a good pitch to hit - he just missed it. It happens.

The pitch to EdE seemed to be more up and away than down the middle and he tried to pull it. Sorry but it just wasn't a good atbat. The guy walked two batters in the inning, don't help him out unless you're sure of killing the ball.
