I guess Jerry's back.

Nah, Jerry made out the lineup cards in advance.

Taking a clue from the one who say that batting order makes no difference, who cares? But I have to wonder what the rationale is for batting Phillips cleanup. Anyone got a clue?

jesusfan

Why do the line-ups have to be different every game! I understand the rationale of going righty heavy against a lefty and changing your line-up. However, changing your line-up every night just for the sake of changing them is irrational to me! Makes absolutely no sense (A lot like that new Gold Star Chili Commercial) WOW! Terrible!

Break up the lefties.

If lineups or batting orders don't matter and I read some research here on RZ to support that, then why does Narron bother changing them so frequently when it is not going to make any difference? Why not look up one of his past winning lineups that actually scored some runs and just use them?

Phillips cleanup?

I know there's a lot of hype for this fight and I've tried to get interested in it, but I just can't. I don't follow boxing at all but in an effort to try to "save" the sport, wouldn't it have been smart to put the fight on regular TV?

Cook has had an interesting season of starts. He only has one decision, a loss, in 6 prior starts. This is despite two spectacular starts, two other quality starts, and two very poor starts.

He didn't pick up a win after pitching 9 inn. w/ 1 run and 7 shutout innings. Then he picked up his loss in one of his two other quality starts. He gave up 3runs in 6 inn. in both games. Then he avoided a decision in both starts where he gave up 5 runs apiece.

What's it mean for tonight? Probably not much, except that Cook's starts have been all over the map and he hasn't gotten decisions to show it.

I wanted him at first....TWO years ago....

Players don't go from being the worst CFer i the majors to being even average in RF, especially at Jr's age and when his biggest problem is a dramatic lack of range

But you don't need the range in RF as you do in CF. CF is a far harder and more demanding position. Where has he not been getting to balls in RF? He misplayed one tonight, and IMO, that's from inexperience/unfamiliarity in the position, not lack of range.

First of all, Edwin has much better range at 3rd base.

Let's try not to discuss EE and Jr. in the same sentence. Griffey is changing positions and has played almost 20 years and has slowed down. Even so, he is still the best hitter on this team. EE is hitting about .220 and continues to make throwing errors. Range is great, but it is hard to win with high error infielders.

He has 4 errors

4 errors in like 20 games for an right fielder is epically bad.

They are bad. He looks terrible out there. But based on 20 years of Hall of Fame play, I think Griffey will adjust. Or will make up for it with hitting.

As for EE, I hope he gets on track but somehow the guy just doesn't inspire confidence. I look at the Rockies shortstop, Tulowitsky, whatever, and I see a young guy ready to contribute. Hamilton too. Not finished products, but seem to know what they are doing.

EE concerns me. His bat has been off for sometime. He does better with routine plays, but has a lot of trouble throwing after charging the ball. Right now, I like the lineup with Freel at third and Hamilton in center.

Ummm...for someone just tuning in....how does Harang have 100 pitches thru 4.1 innings.

Combination of bad defense and a couple of long 8/9 pitch ABs for a few Colorado hitters.

It really shows what a pesky AB can do to a starter -- take 9-10 pitches and you basically eat up 10% of a starter's game to get him to record 1 out.
