Ross at 2B is a pretty funny/scary typo.

Well with Milton pitching the ball isn't going to get to the catcher that often anyway, so Jerry figured he'd go with 8 fielders instead. He probably would be used better standing on top of the left field wall though.

All of the balls in play will go way over his head anyway. It's a win-win scenario, I think. For Ross, less crouching = more productivity with the bat.

Interesting tidbit....Castellini was on the field today during batting practice, and then went to the side to talk to Wayne Krivsky.

Not sure if that means anything ultimately, but there you go....dirt from the ballpark :D

Dunner44
05-08-2007, 06:20 PM
Here's Fay's 2 cents on what Matt was talking about:

CEO Bob Castellini was on the field for batting practice, as far as I can tell it was his first appearance down there since Opening Day. He had an extended conversation with Wayne Krivksy.

I tracked Castellini down afterward, but he didn't want to talk.

"We've just got to come out of this and we will," he said. "Catch me when I'm feeling better."

No moves were made before the game. I'm told nothing is coming anytime soon. But check back after the eighth inning tonight.

thats good but I really hope this isn't an ownership that thinks Milton is the main issue right now.

It would probably be something down the road if this team keeps falling and it's time to start playing for the future.

For example, getting Homer up here in place of Milton, and eating Milton's contract if they can't find (or bribe) another team to take him.

There's also the Dumatrait's of the world that may be able to help in the bullpen...or whomever is proving their worth right now.

Edwin flies to Pence...

Razor Shines
05-08-2007, 07:44 PM
If he stops to look back, I don't think he has a chance to get the runner at first. Having to run in on the play is what made it so tough. A better throw to first may have given them a chance at Pence at home, not sure though. It was just a heads up play by Pence.

Again I'm willing to concede that he may not have gotten an out, unless it was on Pence at third. And like I said it's nothing that Edwin should get any grief over, it's just what I would have preferred but it's judgment call he's got to make in an instant.

And it could have gone the other way and he could have looked the runner back and not gotten any outs and if the next ball gets by him the inning is extended and it looks like a terrible decision.
