I still am completely baffled with Phillips as a top or middle order of the hitter.

He profiles to a 6/7 hole hitter until he learns not to get himself out on bad pitches with less than 2 strikes(which he does continually).

BP has no business hitting at the top or the middle of the order.

If people thought Edwin was bad defensively at 3B, wait until they see Freel playing there everyday.

Agree 100% on Freel.

I am ok with sending EE down if its in his best interest long term. If they think this is in the Reds best interest to help win now they are more clueless in the FO than I thought.

Wonder if Freel will get benched when he makes an error at third?

Freel won't be playing every day. You forget that we have a stud defensiveman in Castro. Sure he can't hit, but neither can Gonzalez (well, he's not supposed to be able to hit)

Castro is starting, not because EE is in the minors, but becasue Gonzo is having the day off.

This is probably the best argument for letting EE work through his problems. He gets sent down just when it looked like his bat was coming to life, too. He hit the ball hard at least three times last night. That throwing error was just too costly, I guess. I know when he catches a hard hit ball that gives him plenty of time to make the throw, I hold my breath a little bit, but Castro and Freel are not improvements. EE is our best shot at a RH bat coming through to help the team with some power.

So - in 26 games Lance Berkman has 1 HR off the NL starters, but in 8 games against Reds starters he has 4 HR's.

Yup, thats about right. The Reds really need to pitch him differently than they currently do. Whatever their scouting report says, toss it and become Opposite George.

There is no doubt he needs that. The way he dives out over the outside part of the plate and drive balls over the wall in LF. He has no worry of the Reds coming hard inside to him.

Isn't that the rationale the owner of the Chicago Blackhawks uses? I lived with a few guys from Chicago and they said the town basically just turned against the owner and the team after he refused to put them on tv in an effort to get fans in the stands. Yes, but the Dodgers have a pretty nasty line-up.... it could go either way, Homer could do great against the Dodgers, which could propel him to pitching great the rest of the season or the Dodgers could rough him up and Homer would have to rebound, which I think he has the mentality and the toughness to do, but does Krivsky and Co.
