Comeback Players of the Year- Ken Griffey and Adam dunn?

It is a long season, but Griffey is hitting .323 with 6hrs and 19 rbis, and Dunn is hitting.286 with 11 hrs and 24 rbis. This is a vast improvement in ba from last season, and they are looking to both make a case for Comeback player. Griffey is a little behind on the power, but I would still vote for both of them.

Comeback from what? Most teams would have been at least satisfied, and some teams actually happy to, take either of their stats last year in their respective positions.

Previous winners include Jose Guzman, John Jaha, and Kevin Elster, so "good" is a relative term.

no, being a #1 draft pick doesn't mean you were good previously in your career. i'm pretty sure they don't care what people did in high school, or even the minors for that matter. i was referring to him having never played in the majors before.

Only on this website would Dunn even be a thought for Comeback Player of the Year. Any fan from another team would just be confused by the suggestion.

I don't know who votes on that award, but I think the criteria is wholly subjective.

If you think about it his story should be enough to get him the award. The feel good story of the year. I said the same thing you did but hell who cares if he didn't play in the majors. He really is the comeback player of the year.

I would think you need major league experience to qualify for Comeback player. They both have really improved their hitting from last year. I am not sure about the qualifications to win the award, but I would think players who had off-years
returning to good hitting form should be considered.

Maybe Lohse or Gonzalez would be candidates. They have never been good before though. But at least they are playing much better than they have in recent years. Griffey and Dunn have already been good for the last few years.
